Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is very interesting. The specific areas that influenced my decision are Number Theory and and Calculus. In this course we're taught everything that we need to pursue higher studies like M.Sc. The exams are conducted by University of Kashmir and the difficulty level is average. The faculty is highly qualified and the teaching method employed is to deliver a lecture and it can be improved by making the sessions more interactive and immersive by increasing the use of technology like smartboards.

Fees and Financial Aid

The year wise fees i paid for my course was 6000 INR per annum. This fee charged by the college was inclusive of other charges like caution fees, lab fees etc. Batchmates of other courses paid different fees like for BA, it was ?5000. The fees has now gone up by around 50%. The scholarship provided was merit-cum-means scholarship was i received INR 7000 per annum which was very helpful.

Campus Life

5

The college conducts an annual day along with other programs but the month is not specific. The college has a big library with a huge collection of books, journals of different academic subjects. The daily national newspapers are also provided. There is the facility of the biometric attendence for the students. The classrooms have smartboards connected to wifi. The college also takes students to play sports at national level like cricket etc. Extra curricular activities like debates, seminars, essay competitions are also held. There is a physical education department for facilitating these things.

Admission

Apart from this college, i applied to SSM College of Engineering. I faced a rejection from there. I didn't make it there because i wasn't able to secure enough points. These days the applicants need to qualify CUET to be eligible for getting admission in this college. After that the applicant can apply by visiting the college, choosing their stream and paying the requisite fees. The overall admission experience is smooth.

Faculty

4

The faculty to student ratio is 1:60. The faculty is is quite friendly and supportive. The are always there for the students. I like Professor Gulzar Sir a lot because of is knowledge and effective art of teaching. There are 2 exams in a year and they are of average difficulty level. Around 20% of the students fail to clear the examination. The course curriculum is formulated just as per the needs of the students.

Night Life

4

The college campus has a cafeteria of its own along with some beautiful parks where students hang out after classes. There is a hostel names Heemal Hostel. The cut off timing is around 7 pm. There is a nice restaurant by the name of Amigos outside the campus. No, i feel that it is not so safe to roam around at night.

Students are eligible for placemnt after third year. total 8 companies from local Food and beverage companies and agriculture related companie came for campus placements. Most of the student didnt take offers from the companies because none of the companies were offering more than 15k to 18k per month I also didnt take the placement offer for the same reason and now i am thinking for further studies from somewhere that have good placements Out of 23 students who were eligible for placements only 3 accepted the offer.

The curriculum provides me with Whatever is sufficient in my course and whatever knowledge I need, I will have more than that. Exam timing should be in the afternoon only because morning gets very late in coming due to which exam gets skipped, rest it is perfect

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose science-non medical subjects being MATHS, GEOGRAPHY, and GEOLOGY. Reasons are my interest and love for these subjects. Class students and teachers ratio is good: 40-1. Teachers' qualifications are also good: MSc, Ph.D., NET qualified. Our exams were semester-wise [once in six months]. it was easy to pass if you just study normal and attend classes.

Remarks:

A Good College Even though the college life seems like a fairy-tale to you, it is not. There are so many things that you have to be careful about when you are visiting a college and checking out its ambience. Don’t get influenced by the clean campuses that most of the colleges have; they purposely do it so that people like you get attracted to their appearance and join their team. If you don’t want to waste your hard earned money on the fees of the wrong college which spoils your fairy-tale dream, you might want to take admission in a college that’s good enough for students like you.
