Course Curriculum Overview

3

The curriculum is well upto date, the reason I choose this course is basically this university have provided all the needed support to comply and get better at your job, the course curriculum will help you land your job as it's the main focus, and the teachers too will help you learn those as they are very experienced this stuff. As per the real world applications the curriculum is well suited.

Internships Opportunities

3

We don't get internships with stipend often, we have to apply for them outside the campus, but we do have unpaid internships where we can obviously learn stuff. Companies like Assam Electronics and airports are there for the internship opportunities. The projects we have taken part in are innovating a game for a AR device which have given us enough name among some seniors of computer science in this nation

Placement Experience

2

You will be eligible for campus placements from 7th sem and the placements on campus are not that great, mostly the sales job will come which will be not great for a person with a technical degree and you'll be not paid enough there, and the technical jobs in campus doesn't pay well. The companies the TCS, Wipro and other MNCs join the placement to provide jobs at a bulk, there are enough jobs for all the students but the pay grade is very low

Fees and Financial Aid

I am currently a student of THE ASSAM KAZIRANGA UNIVERSITY. During my year of admission the fees was 55000 per semester that is 110000 per year, but we do have scholarships for merit based and military personale or sports..I opted for the merit based scholarship where I recieved a 25% deduction of my fees..

Campus Life

3

The annual fest is called Kryonix, and I have not attended one since I joined, as the budget is very low according to the university management. We will have a tech fest this year, where students from all over the nation will come with their innovations to compete and this will be followed by a cultural program at the last day, we do celebrate all the festivals in campus, the sports and cultural events are good.

Admission

I have applied to two other colleges, one was Assam Downtown University and the other one was a govt. College, Jorhat engineering...I didn't get admission to jorhat engineering as the branch I wanted had a high cutoff but I didn't went to Assam Downtown by my choice as their technical courses doesn't help in the long run, the staff are not much adequate the possibility of exploring different fields in this course is not available there.

Faculty

5

The faculty members are great overall except a few, there are enough faculties for every section, it is not common to sit still and lurk around class hours as substitute faculties will also come and take class if the main faculty is absent for any reason. There are a few teachers that I absolutely adore, starting from our HOD sir, Rupam Bhagawati, our Dean sir Karthik Kovuri, our lab sir Ankit mohari and Wasim Ahmed and our general computer staff Rupa Ma'am and Barnana Ma'am.

Night Life

3

The night life is not great at all, students need to get to their hostels around 9.30 and they need to enter the campus around 7.30. we do have two cafes and a gym in the boys hostel, which is good. the library is closed around 5 so yes that is a big problem. The hostel timing is 6 am to 9.30 pm and the campus timings are 12 noon to 7.30 pm so it's a bit problem.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not really good in our college, it is more of a research institute so it mainly focuses on PhD as PhD strength is good. Higher education is more prefered here but placement scenario is also good

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is very relevant and is different for different branches according to their needs. I was interested in civil engineering and chose the course and find the curriculum intersting and relevant for me . The curriculum offers subject which are important for real world applications, like in civil engineering it's offers subjects like building construction, solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, material testing, serving, etc. The course curriculum is very good but the teaching methods needs improvement like more digitalization . The exams frequency and timings are neither too late nor too early, they are perfectly planned and executed.

Course Curriculum Overview:

There exists a good teaching staff that's why the course is very easy to understand also teachers give us good examples also do practicals so that's students understand the course easily . I see that there exist a low no of equipments in practical lab compare to it's students ratio so if they have a good no of equipments then all students get equipment to do experiment without any waste of time . Time is good as compare to marks and the first 30 marks are beginner level the other 40 marks are intermediate level and the remaining 30 Marks are advanced level questions in a question paper for the students they published.

I choosed because my CEE marks which was 92 at that time was not enough to get admission in govt engineering colleges and the OBC cut off was 120+. So, in Whole northeast Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management and Technology is the no 1 and the oldest private engineering college and I decided to take admission there.

Placement Experience:

The placement scenario is quite good, with several reputed companies like General Electric, Power Grid Corporation of India, Goldman Sachs, among others recruiting 94 percent of the students in the college. The placement takes place in three rounds, one testing one's aptitude, followed by an hour round, finally leading on to a technical round. Mock interview and job cracking sessions are organized regularly, both by the departments, and also the Training and Placement Cell, to prepare students for the interviews and examinations going forward. The Training and Placement Cell also provides internship opportunities at the end of third year for the students, based on their aptitude and abilities

Remarks:

I have mostly positive remarks about college except for the fact that the college is situated really far from mainstream north India. Train connectivity is not that strong to rest of country. But despite that the college is extremely good in the sense of learning, meeting new innovative minds, and of course placements and jobs.
