Likes
- The college crowd is the cream of the crop meaning the students here are among the best minds in their respective fields.
- The environment is highly competitive which motivates you to improve and become better.
- The teaching staff has years of experience and even the younger faculty members possess extensive knowledge of their subjects, making discussions with them highly beneficial for our careers.
Dislikes
- Competitive environment if not handled carefully may lead you think that you are far behind and make you feel despair.
- Society culture can be toxic sometimes. The path shall be tread on carefully.
- Some students here try to mold themselves into a corporate suitable candidate which may lead you to have unpleasant feelings after interacting with them
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is extremely relevant, as you will see when you review the topics covered like Organisational Behaviour, Personality Development and Communication, Microeconomics and Macroeconomics, Financial Management, IT Skills, Machine Learning, etc. These topics have real-life applications and are essential for career growth regardless of the field you choose. The examinations are easy to go if you pay attension in the class.
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunities are also provided by the Placement Cell. However, the students who actually get them are extremely low in number therefore most of them need to look through personal channels to get one. The offers are provided by well established companies like Bain & Company, McKinsey & Company, etc. as well as various startup companies for positions like associate policy intern, marketing Intern, Content writing, etc.
Placement Experience
There is a Placement Cell in our college dedicated for that purpose only. The average and Median packages are always above 10 lakhs while the highest package varies year to year with 44 Lakhs in the year 2023. Some companies which are frequent recruiters from our college are BCG, Bain & Comapny, McKinsey & Company, A & M, EY, etc.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee payment was around 26,000 INR (one-time only) at the time of admission in the college. There are various need-based scholarship programs like Reliance Foundation Scholarship programme. Hostel fees has to be paid separately which is between 80,000 - 85,000 INR for odd semester and 60,000 - 65,000 INR for even semesters. Therefore you can be admitted before the start of the first semester and if you want to leave; then you can do so before the second semester. Caution money is 5,000 INR. Mess fee is included in the hostel fees.
Campus Life
The campus Life involving the societies can be quite fun and exciting to be nothing more than a formailty based on which societies are you a part of and the friend circle which you have. SSCBS organises. Sports in our college hasn't been much of a high priority of students since the courses offered are academically professional. However, the sports society of the college has been singlehandedly keeping the hopes and wills of intersted students alive as it holds the Football and Cricket Leagues of the college annually while increasing the number of field sports and e-sports every year. Crescendo - The Annual fest of our college is known to be one of the three best fests in the DU circuit and after personally experiencing it, I can say that its reputation precedes it.
Admission
I applied to the same college for BBA(FIA) course as well as Cluster Innovation Centre for B.Tech (Information Technology and Mathematical Innovation). However, BMS in SSCBS was my first choice and since I got it in the first round, I chose to come here directly. To come to SSCBS, you need to appear for CUET and attempt the papers of English, Mathematics/Applied Mathematics and General Test. The test is easy but competition is high.
Faculty
There are two types of Faculties- Permanent (mostly for Core subjects, have a ton of experience) and Guest (mostly for optional subjects and in case there is a lack of Core Faculty, some are currently doing PG. Examination follows Delhi Univerity's format. IA for 30 marks and CA for 40 marks while Semester End exam for 90 marks (For 4-credit courses only). The pattern is different for different optional subjects.
Night Life
There is no night life as such for the whole college; only the hostellers are supposed to enjoy it. But even for them, thy cannot step out of college campus after 8:30 pm and out of hostel campus after 10:00 pm. So, the night life is almost non-existent, not ignoring the fact that safety and security is quite sound.
