On overall, central University of Kerala is a good university for persuing post graduation. The university has created a good number of students qualifing in various entrance tests as well as internships. Some alumina students are now persuing their PhD in foreign renowned Universities. The faculties and the administration is remarkable.
Course Curriculum Overview
My course is genomic science. It has a really good scope as we can call this era as genomic era after the successful discovery of the human genome project. The university also provides a certificate for post graduation in biotechnology along with the genomic science certificate. So it is helpful as we can apply for both genomics and biotechnology career ways.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, our college provides various internship. Our faculties provide internship various outside as well as inside students of the university according to their specific research area. I have no idea about the stipend but I believe the experience will be really helpful for the students.
Placement Experience
Well as MSc students our department mainly focus on qualifying CSIR NET. But rather than that you can also apply for various research projects and for various central government jobs for biotechnology as well as genomics area.
College Events
Usually all the southern occasions like Onam, diwali ect are celebrated inside the university. Along with that our university participate in south zone competitions and inside university, inter school competitions are held. Also sports and a year end art fest is conducted. It's really exciting.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The total cost for dtudies for both the years can be calculated under 60k. The hostel fees are also very less and affordable. In total, for two years 1.2 lakhs is pretty enough including the course fee and hotels fees.
Fees and Financial Aid
The university provides scholarships to the students in each department who have scored the top mark in all the four semesters. A national internship i.e INSPIRE is applied in this University which is really helpful for good career.
Campus Life
Each department has distinct labs in which all the instruments and the materials are available. Each department has a minimum of one lab assistant who help the students to understand the procedure for running various machines as well as for preparing various solutions. Along with that our university conducts various seminars to discuss the present advancement in science and programs to choose perfect career opportunities. Various inter school sports competitions are held in our university along with sports to select desreved students for south zone competitions
Hostel Facilities
Yhe hostels are really well maintained and the infrastructure is really good. The hostel has a regular maintenance. The hostel students get the 24 hour wifi connection. The food is really good as compared to other hostels and the surrounding is healthy.
Alumni/Alumna
The seniors are really helpful as they help and guide us to choose the perfect path. They also help their juniors in studies and are very cooperative and friendly. They treat the juniors as a family and CUK alumina association is really helpful to us too as it also suggests us some good Career opportunity and their journey and the advantages.
Exam Structure
Well there are usually 2 internals and one mid term is conducted before the end semester for each semester for 3 semesters. In 4th semester we have dessertations to do under faculties of the university as well as outside the university.
Admission
I appeared the CUCET exam for M.Sc on the subjects i.e Animal science and genomic science and biochemistry. I got selected and was called by the university via email to attend the second counseling. I had to bring the hard copy of my 10th, 12th and graduation marksheet and certificate with migration certificate and transfer certificate. The according to the secured mark and admission process I got admission in this University.
Faculty
The faculty are really good. They are friendly and they always try to bring the best out of their students. They discuss their research papers and discuss about all the development occuring in present days along with the course of study. They help the students for better career options and they train them well for their future.
