What Students Say
Likes
- Campus is serene. Great for people who like nature.
- Classes are scheduled spacedly decreasing workload on student.
- Batch strength is less so individual attention to all students.
Dislikes
- No competitive exam support. One has to heavily rely on self study .
- Not for people who like a vibrant college life, Everyday can feel pretty slow and less engaging,
- Faculty are not upto the mark. Only few of them deliver course matter effectively. Rest are laid back and only focus on completing syllabus.
Course Curriculum Overview
Our batch was in Covid lag batch. So the course curriculum was highly rushed. We weren't able to cover aspects which would have real world applications. The last semester research project was fine but still more hands on experience and more research oriented approach could've been taken .
Fees and Financial Aid
There are very few campus employment opportunities. Since I'm a general candidate and I'm from north. All my cost was mostly spent in travel so overall cost was around 1.75 lakhs. SC/ST candidates don't have to pay hostel fees. Local keralites have state scholarships available.
Campus Life
Campus life was pretty slow. People who are introverted will thrive here. Fest is catered to local student only. Outside students aren't able to enjoy as all performances and events well 90% are catered to local students. Technological provisions are of poor quality. Sports facilities are decent but there's no proper football or cricket turf. There is major lack of student-run social groups that promote mingling of students from all backgrounds. Student have formed groups based on their respective domiciles. Library is very small. New library is still under construction. Collection of library is decent.
Admission
Eligibility for my course was B.Sc. in any life science discipline. All dates can be found on the University's website. I didn't avail of any reservation. The exam is moderately difficult.
Faculty
Faculty are highly approachable. But only few of them teach in a manner helpful for competitive exams and real world applications. Most of them prove unhelpful for recommendations or any mentorship for other jobs and research opportunities. Student themselves have to seek out internships and work without any external help.
