What Students Say
Likes
- The infrastructure of the college is good.
- The college will support you if you have a startup idea.
Dislikes
- There used to good placements but it has decreased over the years.
- Although things have changed comparatively after the new management took over, it happened only during my final year. Before that the college life was boring. Now the number of events happening in our college have increased.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum mainly covers programming and web development. There will be atleast one programming language in each sem. The curriculum does help you to develop your logic for real world applications. Course curriculum should be updated to accomodate latest technologies in the IT field. At first the series exams were difficult because there were two subjects per day with no study leave in between. But now it has changed to one exam per day which is way better.
Placement Experience
For Integrated MCA, students become eligible for placements since the 9th semester. For Btech, its 7th semester. Some of the companies that visited our college are SOTI, UST, Leopard Technologies, Safran Digit. There are many other companies that we can apply to but those drives are not conducted at our college like experion technologies and G10X technologies. Our college is the only college in Kerala from where students are hired by Safran Digit. I have gotten placement in G10X technoologies private limited.
Fees and Financial Aid
I am pursuing Integrated Master of Computer Applications which is a five year course sem. I am in the final semester. All semester fees has been paid which amounts to a total of Rs.2,93,615. The total hostel rent amounts to Rs.74,000. Our mess fee has increased throughout the years. It started at Rs.3,500 per month. Later increased to Rs.4,500. Now its Rs.4,800 per month. Year-wise total fees including semester and hostel rent(mess fees excluded) are as follows: Year 1: Rs.60,150(sem)+Rs.19,000(hostel) = Rs.79,150 Year 2: Rs.51,100(sem)+Rs.6,400(hostel)=Rs.57,500 Year 3: Rs.50,390(sem)+Rs.16,500(hostel)=Rs.66,890 Year 4: Rs.65,735(sem)+Rs.16,000(hostel)=Rs.81,735 Year 5: Rs.66,240(sem)+Rs.17,000(hostel)=Rs.83,240 Since my admission was during the pandemic, there are some irregularities in the fees because of the online classes. I think the caution fees was Rs.15,000. I had no scholarships or financial aids.
Campus Life
There is an annual cultural fest called AZURE which is usually held between March and May. Its usually a 3 day program. There is also an annual Sports event called AAVESH. The library does have a lot of books and journal that we can refer for our studies and research. Every classrooms have projectors for smart classes. There are college teams for cricket, football, volleyball and also badminton. There are clubs like music club etc. Gym facilities are available within the campus.
Hostel Facilities
My room is a double room. The beds are not wooden. They are made of concrete. Mattresses and pillows are given when we join the hostel. Bucket, mug, table lamps are also provided. The table lamps are rarely used since the hostel is solar powered and power cuts are not much of an issue. The registration for hostel is pretty simple as they will ask us whether we need hostel facilites during the admission process. The hostel menu changes once every 3 months. The food is really average. There is a PG near the college.
Admission
Well I could easily get admissions in many colleges because I did have pretty good marks in plus two. A college I nearly joined was Saintgits College of Engineering(Autonomous), Kottayam. But some people convinced me to join Amal Jyothi because they had more placements. In fact a lot of my classmates had actually plans to get admission in Saintgits but later joined Amal Jyothi. The admission process is pretty simple. We can capply in the college webiste. Later they will call you and you have to submit the documents in the college for admission.
Faculty
There are enough faculties. The faculties are approachable. Excluding the semester exam, there are two series exam each semester. The course curriculum is kind of outdated, but I guess the university is responsible for that. The exams are not that difficult and can be passed if you put atleast a minimum effort. Some subjects are difficult.
Night Life
After classes, students can stay at the campus until 6:30 pm. They may use the gym and engage in other games. The cafeteria is open until 5:30. Hostel students have to enter the hostel before 6:45pm. The only thing that comes close to nightlife is on Fridays. Hostel students can stay within the college until 10:30pm. The canteen will also be open for the duration on that day. Hostellers are not allowed to leave the campus premises any day except on weekends. The nearest movie theatre is in Mundakkayam called R D Cinemas. There is a Mandhi shop in 26th Mile called Faaz. Also we have the famous 'Chechide Kada' for meals near the college.
