What Students Say
Likes
- The workload is very little, giving us time to focus on many non-academic related fields.
- The campus is very spacious. It is lush green, giving a very positive environment. The club opportunities are also great.
- The teachers are very approachable. Doubts are cleared, when required.
Dislikes
- due to Anti-ragging laws first-years are prohibited from meeting seniors, and have seperate hostels, which makes a lack in good insight.
- The mess system is very bad. No id card swipes are allowed, leaving you with very few choices of food.
- The hostel wifi has games banned, along with whatsapp video and audio calling
Course Curriculum Overview
The cirriculam structure is outdated, as we have not much freedom in choosing our subjects(but which college in india has any freedom?). Some cirriculi helps in real world applications, but most subjects will be of no use other than increasing your logical reasoning. The exams happen after 2 months and they are moderate to tough depending on the subject.
Internships Opportunities
Barclays generally offers internships to students from the second year, and pay around 70000 for one month. Companies like google, barclays, microsoft, apple , citibank, l&t, amazon and bajaj autos all come.
Placement Experience
The students are eligible to get an intership from the end of the second semestor of their second year, i.e, the end of 4th semester. A lot of companies come and offer jobs. the highest job offer was for around 1.5Cr in campus. Some students were able to grab pretty good off-campus jobs upto 1cr as well. In cse around 97% of the students get placed. My plans after getting my degree is to work, or maybe start a company.
Fees and Financial Aid
per semester the tuitiom fees amount upto 76000. the mess fee sums up to 30000, and the hostel fee sums up to 5000. the mess fee eventually gets down to about 19000 after holidays. these fees are for students of general catagory.
Campus Life
Due to the anti-ragging rules here, first years aren't allowed much socialisation with seniors. They also have to stay in a completely different hostel. Club environment is good, but there are way too many clubs for every single thing, confusing students on which one to join. The infrastructure is great, but the hostels are pretty worn don=wn, but after all the campus is almost 65 years old. Many fests are held around here, too boost student morale.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facility here is pretty cheap(5000 a semester). The rooms have double sharing, but are quite small. Students have to get themselves assigned a hostel as it is compulsary. Meals are mid to be honest, but there is a vast variety in the menu.
Admission
I took this subject as my jee rank allowed me to only come this far. I took cse because it is percieved as one of the best branches currently. The admission process was standard as it is with JOSAA. The eligibility criteria is generalised over all NITs, which is 75% aggeragate in PCM subjects. The cutoff for cse students was around 3200(including (CSAB), for open catagory.
Faculty
The attendance policy is at a staggering 85%. Since there are only 3 classes a week for a subject, you can take a max of 6 leaves per subject per semester(which lasts 4 months). We have normal mid-sems and end-sems. the mid-sems are for 30 marks, end-sems are for 50 marks, and internal marks(that are dependent on the teachers) for 20 marks(may include attendance, assignments and class tests depending on the teacher)
Night Life
Gyms and cafeteroas dont really stay open till late. they close areound the 9PM mark. Many cafeterias and restaurants are available. We have cafe coffee day, keventers, dominos and a couple of local restaurants, which close around 12:30-1:00 in the night. First years are not allowed out of the hostels after 10:30, but there is no limit to students from second year.Students genreally play sports, like swimming, cricket basketball, hockey, TT and many more
