Bcom from Gauhati Commerce College is a great thing to be heard of if you are from Assam. As it is a renowned college and many alumni are influential and big personalities. So yes bcom is a god course. But it is not much real world based i guess. As modern day is changing rapidly but our syllabus and course haven't changed much from a decade or more. One can see it by seeing past years papers.

So Higher secondary first year i got free admission, second year it was around 5000. Then in bcom, for every odd and even semester fees are different. Like for 1st sem fees are around 5000. Second semester around 2000. Again 3rd around 5000 and the same structure goes on for all semester under the cbcs structure. There is a fee wavier scheme too in all the semesters where if u fall under EWS category your fees is significantly reduced or refunded. Notmally there are fees like lab fees, administrative fees and many more like playground fees, gym fees etc. but most of these aren't used by us.

College week is held at February mid. Elections are held at year end. Freshers are held after june july. And farewell is done at april around. There are many books and last years papers in library and id well maintained. Have projectors in most rooms. But not used as such in most rooms. Sports and other activities u will see only during sports week in most cases or other events. Otherwis e all are locked in rooms.

I applied to kc das commerce college and this college. I got selected both places but I selected this college because it is more renowned than kc das commerce college and also the location, surrounding and campus is much better here. Now admission is done through samarth portal. All board students can apply here but assam board students have lower cutoff than other boards. If u have reservations u can apply or else it will be merit based. Also after admission are over some days later if seats become vacant for some reason. One can apply for them and get admitted for a lower cutoff.

There are sufficient faculty for the students. Each class have approx 100 students in bcom and have around 4-5 sections and also almost every department have 4-5 faculty. So it is managed well. Most faculty are well approachable but yes there are professors whom most students hesitate to talk to pr do their class. Mainly the professors of the accounting department are less approachable as some professors in there aren't very friendly or don't behave good most of the time. The name of the faculty I wouldn't mention now but will update in some months due to some reasons????. The exam pattern is 80-20 for bcom most subjects. 80 marks finals and 20 marks sessionals, internal assessment, attendance, projects etc. there are some subjects which are exceptional like Business Research Project Work in 6th sem. Its 50-50 divided, No sessionals. And yes course is easy to pass even studying yourself 10-15 days before the exam. But if want good results would suggest grind a bit earlier and more. Don't depend on college for coursr completion and also some senior professors don't teach good. Juniors are serious and good

Gym is closed whole year except during some cultural event for dance practice or during sports week. Canteen is operational with okay kind of food. And is closed by 4-5. Campus is closed by 5 for enentry of girls. Locality is not much safe at night as chain snachers and many substance abusers are near the area. Famous hangout place is chandmari bridge.
