Course Curriculum Overview

3

After computer science engineering, electronics and communication is an important and growing branch. I have an interest in communication field amd network field hence i, chose this. Also i am not interested in coding and i wanted to stick to a brach that had bith softwate amd hardware. The curriculum is revised once every 4 years. Hence changes are made . The Curriclum teaches you the core subjects mostly that are based on theory. It does nit provide the route to working in an mnc kr a company. The experience has to made through internships. The timing of exams are 3 hours. Most papers are made in such a way taht students utilises the whole 3 hours. Some papers can be lengthy or has numerous applicatoon level questions. For the teaching methods inatead of teaching most of the time teachers should give more seminar topics to studenta. This encourages them to do more research on the topic. Hence they learn bu their own. Through this they earn a lot of knowledge and experience. The curriculum should strat including some features that may help atudenta in the coming years. Like the technological developments and changes in ai. Network theory is a subject that i like hence i chose this course

Internships Opportunities

4

The cgpu or placement unit is an actively working group. They give more opportunities for students in the form of IV(industtial visits) and internships. Some of the internships include deon companies like tata elxci (electronics core) , tcs, cdac and so on. An internship from oracle was obtained for 3 students of the same class and they gave a stipend of 50,000 per month for 6 months. It was given to students of 6th semester. Other projects and startups from students were initiated in technopark with the help of staffs and seniors. As a lart of internship 2 students git an opportunity to visit tokyo representating an indo pacificic global summit. Various hackathins have also been won.

Placement Experience

3

Placements are pretty good here. The chlu unit or placement unit works in traing the student to attain a secure job. Stidents of semester 7 can start applying for the placements. Around 60 percent of students are placed in numerous companies and mncs. The companies that often ivite students are tcs, infosys, oracle and accenture. They provide an annual salary of 5 lakh per annum. It is a mass recruitment. But alart from that studenta are given gate coaching. Hence they either ho for higher studies or opt for psu companies like sets, hpl etc. But the highest package given was 12 lakh for a student who went to maharatna company through gate in the previous year. In total around 30 companies visit every year. Companies like google, microsoft, pinterest has also recruited students from the college. My plan is to go for gate coaching during 3rd year. And appearing for 2027 exam to clear it and to attain a psu company job. Work for 2 to 3 years in that company and look for more opportunities in abroad later.

Campus Life

The best part of college is the technical festa that are held. Cult a way is the one of the biggest festa held in the college. It occurs fir 3 days. Special guests are invited amd concerts are held. Since the college doesn't have a stage these events are held outside the college premises in a huge auditorium. It occurs in the month of march or april every year. The trchnical festival of cult a way occurs in the month of november every year. Apart from these auto shows are conducted twice a year. For sports sct has a strong kho kho girls team and handball team for boys and girls. The football team of boys have also won numerous championships. In the classroom tegre is a blackboard, and a PowerPoint presentor for slide shows. Numerous labs with latest technology facilities are also there. Around 2 labs which are huge for each brach is made with more than 60 computers in each. The college has a massive library for a common use and study purpose. Other than that each department has its own huge library. NSS, IEEE are the actively working and have made achievements. Other clubs are velocitybike which is an automobile club. Mechatrons which builds cars from junk owned by mechanical department. Cybot which is a robotic club. The infrastructure of tye college is beautifulky made. Currently construction for a lift is ongoing. Other than that there are 5 floors.

Admission

I chose SCT as my college. It is government aided college. It is from the ksrtc department of kerala. Hence it is a prominent and famous college across kerala. The admission is taken through keam which is an entrance exam for admission of engineering in kerala. Students who has high keam marks and board marks are taken. Priority is given to thise with the highest mark. Even if you get low marks if you are under ksrtc qouta because of your parents you can get in with low fee. Other quotas like NRI and SC and ST are available. I chose thia college over other other colleges in my locality becauss of its high placements. The other colleges in my locality are mar baselious, barton hill, ace college etc. But the first option was cet college not, sct college. Cet is one of the best colleges in kerala and it is difficult to get in becauss you need a high rank in keam like rank 1 to 500. Hence i couldn't get admission there. But other than placements in terms of cultural fests and sports sct leads than other universities. IEEE and NSS are vey active than otehr colleges. Sct has alo provided numerois projects and students have won in hackathons. But, apart ftom that there is no ground or stage for events to occur. If one doesnt, get admission in sct they can apply for spot admission. Compared to cet, sct has less placements. My keam rank was less so i couldn't get in cet.

Faculty

Faculty to student ratio is probably 1:10. The staffs are well educated mostly with a doctorate in their field. They are highly supportive. Some of the staffs work within the placement unit thus giving us more opportunities. Aswathy ma'am who taught us chemistry inthe forst yr was a staff with immense patience and subject knowledge. Shw helped us a lot. Jisu ma'am taught us c programming. Concepts were crystal clear. Deepa mam our staff advisoe is alao nice. Bindhu ma'am taught us engineering mechanics. Concepts were clear but when we asked doubts she used to be rude sometimes. The college is under ktu. Before the final semester exams 2 series exams are done. Each, subject is out of 50 marks. Marks from the series exams are taken for internals. For lab an internal exam is taken first which is out of 75 marks. Normally series exams are as difficult as semester exams. The question papers are prepared by the faculty itself. They are sometimes tricky hence helping us to prepare for final exams. Evaluation can be strict or lenient according to the difficulty of the paper. There is a lot to study subjects are vast. But the question paper level of final semester exams are moderate level. In a class of 70 around 5 to 7 students fail for a single aubject. Sometimes papers are given for revaluation to check again. Through this aometimea marks increase. Course curriculum ia based on the current technology.

Night Life

I am bnot a hosteler but aome of my friends are. They have to get inside tehir hostels by 8 pm. If they come late they can get in with the permission of their parents calling the hostel wardens. The hostel food is although not so great. Hence tgey mostly rely on outside food. A monthly fee of 6000 has to be paid for hostel for the girls. For boys it is 5500. A total of 3 hostels are there. Only students from first and second year stay there after that they move to an apartment. The best hangout place at night would be adams, apm etc They provide the best food. The hostel is very near to the college and is in walkable diatance. It is a city area hence all the landmarks are near itself. Tehre are around 2 gyms nearby the college where students go. Otehr picnic spots like rivera and lakes are also not ao far.

Other Applied Colleges

Mar Baselios College of Engineering and Technology - [MBCET] Nalanchira | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)

This college had less placements than the current college i am studying in. Also the distance from my home was more. It is a private college so fees are also very high. Less internships were provided according to the statistics.

The campus placements are decent. getting placed in a big company is more about having the technical and soft skills to pass the interviews. the placement training helps us develop soft skills but the technical skills must be developed ourselves.
