Course Curriculum Overview

5

Yeah the course and the overall curriculum is quiet good as it allows us to open our mind and have practical approach in our life also I wanted to do something which enhances me always to learn and do new things. The whole setup is quiet amzing but as far to say in our college a more workshop based learning and work should be promoted more and thus the students will be able to do alot more. The overall academic pursuit enables us good to go for real world applications and for furthur academic ado that is up to us.

Placement Experience

5

The campus placement is good like now only Cognizant is coming to our college for 2025 batch students and as to say the overall selection of student is good in fact the way the IT industry currently is then also our college is providing a good placement at least to be able to carry your own expenses. Also like there are 10+ companies visits till now in our college and more companies are coimg so overall its quiet good. You can surely get placed faculty and Placement cell works alot to get you a good package starting off college. And as far currently the Placement drive is going on so as far now it has been good.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am currently in my 4th year and associated with BPUT so in our Btach the total tuition fee is 1Lakh and the Hostel (including Mess) fee is 65000 which served breakfast, lunch and dinner also we have a 1500 exam registration fee which is constant for each and every semester of each course. The fee of the Autonomous is approx 2.5 Lakh per year that also has hostel fee included and the fee increases by 10% annually for the betterment of the infrastructure and staffs. There aren't any specific scholarships provided to the students by college but a 40k wavier for Odisha State student is given by the state government.

Campus Life

5

The overall campus life is quiet good like the whole year you'll be getting something and something is happenening throughout the time. There are 2 annual fests are celebrated as TECHFEST and CULTURAL FEST so these happen around september to feb and Februrary mainly also hosts the Annual sports meet. Like wise the different clubs of college organise events throughtout the year and sometimes some new events might also be conducted like when in 2023 a FOOD FEST was organised and I was the Managing member of that also it was a huge success so you'll get a lot in this college. To quote there are SPHURITHA, YANTRIKI and MUDRA Clubs in our college also there are many eents conducted on the day of national importance.

Hostel Facilities

5

I was in the college hostel for abput 3 years and to say the overall facility is very good the first and foremost thing is hygine and we have seperate bathroom for each room that's good also the hostel administration adn staff is working well the meal qualities are okayish as I mention earlier hostel affordability is first come first serve basis and I would suggest to go for the hostels it has a life of its own.

Admission

Well to start I gave my JEEMAINS 2021 exam but unfortunately at the same time on MAy 4th MY died and I got off track for about 5 months and when I again got myself back anyhoe then I got the opportunity to go for GEC and as far I have gathered info and seen through my eyes the fees with the reutn of knowledge we got its far more better than many colleges. My main reason to choose this college is a bit un-traditional as I wanted to go somewhere far, cause I knew I can do what I want as I was stusying about coding from class 11. The admission process in GEC is far very easy as you can directly contact through the phone number which you can get ny the website also if you do a personal visit that'll be far more benefit for you as you'll get a better understanding of what are you getting.

Faculty

4

The faculty of our college is good enough some of the techers and HOD are highly qualified and has a very good practical approach towards the subject and concepts. The coursse structure for BTech is usual as 8 semesters in which & semesters will have papers and 7th and 8th sem include projects, the marking scheme is about 100 marks per subject and last sem project is 600 marks. The Faculty to Student ratio is about 1:50 i.e. 1 faculty per 50 students. here are total about 48 papers and labs etc. see these exams are just to make us better and if you are focused and an active listener youll grab it good.

Interview Experience

5

No these were not the part of the admission process in Gandhi Engineering College rather students are seeked just on the basis of their JEE MAINS results. As I have also got selected based solely on my JEE MAINS rank.

Night Life

5

The clsoing off time of Library and Gym is 8pm where as the cafeteria and canteen closes at 10pm also in the mean time the night life at hostel is very good like we used to play cards and guitar do some karoke based on ourself also the overall night will be good you'll be thrilled by the ideas to do things in hostel adn college that can't be quoted if you understand :)

Reviewed on Jan 9, 2026(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

1. Relevance & Comprehensiveness (Rating: 7/10) The course curriculum at SOA is updated frequently compared to state government colleges. Why I chose this: I was attracted to the fact that the syllabus includes modern electives like Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and Data Analytics starting from the 3rd year itself, rather than waiting for the final semester. Real-world Prep: The curriculum is designed largely to crack placement interviews. There is a heavy focus on Aptitude and Core Coding subjects (DS/Algo) which helps in getting a job. However, for deep research or R&D roles, the theoretical depth is sometimes lacking. 2. Areas for Improvement Teaching Methods: A major issue is the reliance on PowerPoint Presentations (PPTs). Many faculty members just read off the slides. I would prefer more "Whiteboard Teaching" for mathematical and logic-based subjects. Lab Records: We spend hours handwriting practical records/files which are just copied from the manual. This is a waste of time. This time should be used for live coding projects or hackathons. Outdated Subjects: First-year students (even in CS/IT) are forced to learn heavy mechanical/civil concepts. While basics are good, the depth of these non-core subjects should be reduced. 3. Exam System & Difficulty Frequency: It is quite hectic. We have 2 semesters a year. Each semester has 2 Internal Assessments (Quizzes/Mid-sems) and 1 End-Semester Exam. Basically, you have an exam every 1.5 to 2 months. Difficulty: The exams are Easy to Moderate. It is not very difficult to pass. If you study the "Class Notes" and "Previous Year Questions" for 3-4 days before the exam, you can easily score an 8.0 SGPA. The checking is lenient for passing, but strict if you are aiming for a 9.5+ SGPA.

I actually have a very little idea about placements of our uni few seniors says there is not a single company visiting, while few were discussing the highest placement which was something like 20lpa or something,i think companies do visit our campus it may not be much but i have definetly seen one or two companies visiting. I plan to do MBA after my Btech so i am not that serious about whether i am getting placed or not.

Reviewed on Dec 22, 2025(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I mainly chose this course because the college is Autonomous, which allows them to update the syllabus faster than standard university colleges; seeing subjects like Python and Data Science in the early semesters really influenced my decision. The curriculum is decent for getting placed in service-based companies like TCS or Wipro since they focus heavily on the basics and aptitude, though for high-end product roles or research, you have to put in extra effort yourself. I definitely think they need to reduce the theory load and focus more on practical coding because sometimes it feels like we are just writing assignments instead of building things. Also, the junior faculty rely too much on reading from slides, which really needs to change to make classes more engaging. As for exams, it feels like we are always writing them since we have two internals and one end-semester exam per term. They are moderately difficult and the checking is strict, so you can't slack off, but the tight schedule can get quite exhausting.
