What Students Say
Likes
- The infrastructure of the college is very good, it is well maintained and beautiful. The library is maintained very well and we can get any book issued from library when we need.
- There are lot of events that happens around in every sem. If i say in a week almost 3-4 days there are events in college (by clubs), we can participate in it.
- The availability of free WI-Fi is what is like the most.
Dislikes
- The teachers are not that good, and the teaching quality is not top notch.
- The cost of eatables is very high in the food court of the college named "Square One" and also in other outlets in the college.
- The lifts of some blocks is not good and safe, they stuck in between and many times students have to jump out of the half opened lift. But it is limited to 2-3 blocks only.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness is very good as i said earlier all the subjects i have studied till now are relevant to my course CSE. Like we are learing SCM (Source code management i.e. git github) and OS(Operating systems). Course curriculum can be improved by not giving the extra online courses like Coursera and swayam as they are a burden to complete> The exams happen after every month with a moderate difficulty level
Internships Opportunities
I am a student of 2nd sem i dont know much aout the internships in the college, but there are the companies which come into the college and picks the skilled ones as a intern. I guess, there will be stipend ranging from 15-20K.
Placement Experience
As i am a student of 2nd sem, i didn't know much about the placement thing, but i have heard some some from my seniors, that in 3rd Year (6th Sem) the companies come to take the interns and in 7th or 8th sem the companies come for placement. There is no fixed percentage of students getting placed, in such a crowded area like chitkara, it wholy solly depends on the skills of an individiual.
Fees and Financial Aid
So, in my college i am a student of Bachelors of Engineering in Computer science and engineering and i am paying Rs.1,20,000 per sem. So the total fees for the 4 year course is Rs.9,60,000. If one is opting the college bus, its charges are tho according to the distance and from derabassi it was Rs.40,000 per year. Also the hostel fees is around and appx Rs.80,000 for average room for one year. In degree of CSE-AI, they charge Rs.1,50,000 per sem means Rs.12 Lakhs for the entire 4 years. Also there has a new degree has came CSE-Future Tech, they charge Rs. 2,00,000 per sem means Rs. 16 Lakhs for whole 4 years.
Campus Life
Overall the campus life is good, the campus is not too large but is well maintained, i am not a hosteller, so i didn't know about the hostels but from outside they look beautiful like flats. There are many festivals which happen in college, in Sept. Freshers happened, after it after 2-3 month the fest of the college RANGREZZ happened, also for the hostelers, almost every weekend there is someone coming in the college rather it is a singer, a comedian, a DJ, etc. The books are easily available in the library Classrooms have one projector and 2 green boards. There are may sports available like cricket, TT, Lawn tennis, basketball, volleyball, cricket, etc. There are many clubs in the college which conducts events almost 3-4 days in a week.
Admission
No i didn't apply to any other college instead of colleges of Panjab University that too i cannot get a good branch based on my jee score, thats why i chose Chitkara, as here the fees was decent compared to thapar and other private colleges. Also, online it was showing there average package as around 8.5LPA which is good compared to other colleges. IN chandigarh uni, the fees is same but there are a lot of students, and they give admission to unlimited number of styudents.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is good, there are many teachers, some are good, some are average, some are very bad when it comes to teaching. Sorry, as my name and everything is going to share, i cant tell the teachers names. So, basically there are 4 exams in a sem of one subject, 3 STs (sessional tests) and 1 End term examination.
Night Life
As i am a day scholar i dont know much about the nightlife of the college, but there is a gym in the college (subscription based). There is no hangout place till 15-20 kms range of the college, the college is very much isolated, there is only one hospital in front of it, and a DMART in 6 kms. Also the busses doesn't come there, one has to go Banur in order to take a public bus.
