True experience of a SLIET Student

I chose this course as I was interested in Robotics and my parents wanted me to take a core branch. The curriculum is not very relevant but some topics are good and related like modern welding technologies and manufacturing techniques. I think our college curriculum needs to be updated where more new world technologies like AR and VRs should be taught with advance robotics. Teaching methods used are classical I think professors should try to use smart classrooms to visualise the concept to make it better understandable. Exams are moderate level but I think our college needs to reduce exam frequency although we have time but due to exams nearly every month it doesn't feel good.

The year wise fees of my college is around 4 lakhs for 4 years but may change based on their further choice of honours and minor courses. For one year Caution Money Institute 5000 Total (A) 5000 B. My college life is decent I have many friends here some are from rich background and some from poor but everyone is very helpful and kind. Our college conduct two fests every year Techfest-(National level Techfest) and Madhuram-( National level Cultural fest) It's decent and has several activities and domain. The classroom facilities and technological provisions are good. Central library of our college have several books of different domains ranging from engineering field, social science field to research journals and civil services books. Sports events are regular on campus. Many sclubs are in our college and almost all are run by students.

I only looked for government colleges as they are affordable and well-reputed. I applied for several colleges and got selected for IIFPT Thanjavur and GGU Bilaspur but I wanted to study mechanical engineering and out of all options, this college was best known for its mechanical engineering course and lab facilities. Some colleges I was not able to go to because of the low JEE rank, very far away from home and some due to the wrong choice of filling.

The faculty in our college are moderate to good. Many teachers have their PHDs from IITs and NITs. Senior faculties are knowledgeable but there are also professors who have knowledge but don't want to teach and skip classes. Some faculties are approachable. Some professors look strict but are nice when you talk to them in person. Our college also have faculties who are accounted in top 2% proffersors in the world. Many professors have patents on their name. I We have 2 semester in one year ,i.e., 4 years=8 semesters. Every semester several subjects are included, generally first year include common subjects for all branches and core subjects start from 2nd year . Exams : We have 2 quizes, 2 minors and 1 major and practical exam for each semester. Passing exam is not very hard anyone can score decent grades if they just attend classes and review pyqs. Exams are related to what is thought in the classes. Note: 8 th semester might be different as there is 3+ months internship in that semester.

Nightlife in SLIET is not very good as we are not allowed to roam in campus or go outside our college after 11:00 pm without permission. Gym , cafeterias, library are in good conditions and are opened around 8-9 pm. Famous hngout places in our college are SAC(Student Activity Centre), Shopping complex, Nursery and Lakes. College is strict with intime in our college for boys (10-11pm) and for girls (6:30-7:30 pm) as there is a main road which goes from inside our campus. So, locals cannot be stopped from coming in campus but in general most local people are good around college. Inspite of strict intime students enjoy in the hostel like late room games and fun, movie nights.
