Life at IIT Roorkee

While most of the courses being relavent some feels irrelavent to ongoing trend.Although new curriculum has been introduced in the new batches including AI in their courses. The teaching method of professors mostly is same using slides in the class and afterwards a tutorial class is taken by teaching assistants of professors. Labs for practicals are well maintained too. The exams are not too difficult to crack as each teacher follows a particular pattern and most of the questions repear from previous year question papers.

Internship opportunities are also descent at IIT Roorkee. Most of the fortune companies makes visit . Basically there is a test and then an interview round . Companies provide stipend in the range of 30k to 400k per month.

In IIT Roorkee after 4th semester internship opportunities are provided. Companies visit to give summer internship opportunity and most of the companies also provided pre placement offers. While placement season starts in 7th semester. Placement opportunities are descent 80% students get placed.

In IIT Roorkee the fees is 1,38000 rs. Per semester for a normal student but most of the students get relaxation either dur to their caste or their income status . As IIT roorkee provides a lots of scholarship SC/ST students only have to pay 38000 INR. They also provide scholarship like MCM which are based on merit.

Campus life at IIT Roorkee is amazing. Fests like Cognizance and Thosmo are beyond expectations. Also almost every festival is celebrated in college.Library contains over 3000 books and e-journals and remains completely filled with students during exams.There are lots of clubs includong tech and cultural.

Hostels are provided according to your year. Every hostel have their own mess. Food quality is descent with lot of variety. Hostels have their own gym room, common room,games room , laundary and they are cleaned and maintained regularly .

As i have given jee mains then cracked jee advanced, based on my rank i was having options to choose mechanical or chemical engineering in IIT Roorkee or lower branches in IIT bombay and delhi and higher branches in lower IITs. But considering the campus life and reputation of IIT Roorkee and placement stats i opt for descent branch at descent college.

Professors here are too helpful. Apart from teaching courses they also provide opportunities to students for taking part in their ongoing research programs.Exams take place twice in a semester midterm and endterm. Also two quizzes of each subject takes place every semester. each student is alloted one faculty advisor to whom they can discuss their academic issues.

Cafeterias remain open 24hrs. Students are free to walk around campus anytime . There is no time restrictions in hostels. The best hangout places are students club,canteens, Student activities centre (SAC) and Multi activity centre (MAC).
