What Students Say
Likes
- One of the things I liked was the behaviour of the faculty , they are very motivated and disciplined, they make sure that the student work hard towards achieving their goals.
- The campus life is quite good and the boys and girls are very friendly and cheerful.
- The girls to boys ratio is also quite higher than some other engineering colleges. The girls to boys ratio in my batch is 20:43
Dislikes
- One of the things that I disliked was that the campus is in very hilly area and the students have to climb some 750 meter to reach the college everyday for 6 consecutive days.
- The campus size is also not very large due to its location in hilly area.
- There is also not cricket or football ground in our college , only badminton and volleyball is preferred by the college students.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course was very much relevant in terms of knowledge and discipline. One of our subjects was human values and awareness which teaches us about our human and moral values and self discipline and our emotional values and support etc.which is very good for our lifestyle and real world problems. Some areas can be improved by making the syllabus more doable for weaker students. So, they can manage their studies and take part in other extracurricular activities.
Placement Experience
The students become eligible for placements in the eighth semester itself.the name of the companies which recently visited our campus was pie infocomm and reliance industries and aarti international ltd.etc. and the placements average is 3 to 5 lpa but the placements of textile branch was very high , going over 18 lpa. Almost 80% of the students gets placed during the placements. My plan is to go abroad to Japan for my further studies.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is divided into two parts which is generally taken in the start of both semesters . At first, you have to pay something about 31370 for admission in the branch and at the end of the semester exams you have to pay about 25000 rs if you are a boy and 10000rs for girls. Also the fees for civil engineering branch is higher than other branches , it's 30000 for boys and 15000 for girls . And the fees structure is same for every category student. and the fees for hostliers for all branches is 28150 for boys and 13150 for girls living in the girl's hostel. And there is no other fees Except the end sem examination fees which is 2500rs for regular student. I did not heard anything about scholarship from the faculty and my batchmates.
Campus Life
My overall experience with the campus life is quite average because I am a very introverted person. I like to enjoy my time alone but the students in this college are very friendly. Their is a block for students to rent books and the library consists of two to three floors and the students are advised to return their books within a month. The faculty also encourages the students to rent books and study. There are many sports like chess, badminton ,volleyball ,tabletennis etc played in our college during the college fest. There is no facility of social groups and clubs in jngec.
Admission
I chose this college than other colleges due to its name and reputation above other Himachal pradesh technical univery based colleges and its results and placements of the textile engineering branch which surely went over 18lpa in 2023.i got rejected when I applied in csab for nit hamirpur and then I got not other choice than the hptu colleges.the admission process is quite simple , you have to apply your form in himtu website and then wait for the offline rounds of btech and then go the designated place for entry rounds.
Faculty
The faculty members are very cheerful and dedicated towards the education. My most favourite professor was our chemistry faculty named Dr.Ajnesh Singh, his teaching style was very impactful and he remains very calm and composed. One of the professor I didn't liked was our Electronics engineering Faculty, named Mr.Akshay kanwar,he didn't cared about the students and went on leave for 2 weeks during the pre final sem weeks. There are three exams in a semester consisting of MST 1 which contributes in 10 marks in overall semester result and same is MST 2 and then the final semester examination. Many students fail to clear the exam due to the advanced calculation and knowledge required for applied maths and computer programming.
Night Life
There are gym situated in our hostels for the boys and girls , there is also a cafeteria in the ground floor of the D block .The nightlife is also quite good in jngec, recently there was fest in which a famous himachali singer was performing and there was very rush in the campus and everyone was enjoying. The locality is also safe to roam at night due to streets being full of students of jngec and polytechnic college. And the most famous spot which people generally visit is the murari devi temple.
