Course Curriculum Overview

3

The course which I have opted for is Mining Engineering and is highly relevant to industrial needs, the theories are not outdated and lans are interesting. There is some scope of improvement too, which includes taking the students out with faculty for an industrial visit , I mean every student , atleast twice in a year compulsorily so that , students can relate to what they are learning

Internships Opportunities

2

NIT Rourkela offers a variety of inernship oppertunities for students across multiple disciplines, which may include Software internships, Analytics inernships and other Core discipline internships and also Research Internships.

Placement Experience

4

Students ecome eligible for campus placements from 7th semester onwards. Avarage package is upto 12 to 13 lakhs per annum and highest can go upto 78 lakhs in campus placements. I plan to get my placement in a major core sector through campus placements.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure includes tution fees and hostel and mess fees separately. I personally being from General category , there is no discount in my tution fees which is upto 725,000. Another fee payment includes hostel and mess fees which ranges from 20000 to 22000. .This fee over here is for one semester of general category whose parents income is more than 5 lakhs per annum. Yearly twice the fees are collected, once for each semester (Autumn and Spring Semester). So in general category whose parents income is more than 5 lakhs have to pay , approximately Rs. 100000, each semester i.e. per year upto Rs. 200000 . A friend of mine who is in SC category and has parents income less than 500000, has to pay nearly 20000, each semester as there is total exemption in tution fees.

Campus Life

4

The college conducts major fests like Cosmopolitan ( The Multi Ethnic Fest) in the month of October, Innovision (The Tech fest) in the month of November , Nitrutsav in the month of february and ROOTS in the month September. A wide and diverse number of books are available in library. Vridhhi is the Games and Sports Fest conducted in our Institute. There are many number of clubs in NIT Rourkela, the number is huge.

Hostel Facilities

4

In boys Hostel upto 2 people do accomodate in a room while in girls hostel upto 4 girls do accomodate in aroom. The hostesl are affordable and the mess is hygenic and good in quality. The menu is diverse with lot many options every day. Sometimes there is power cut during exam days, which are frequent in nature and are annoying.

Admission

NIT Rourkela is the most renowned and prestigeous engineering college in Odisha, having far more reputation as well as NIRF rankings than most of the new IITs and NITs. I also applied for good IITs , based on my JEE Advanced rank but didn't get into any top IIT because of less rank. So instead of selecting of any new IIT , I selected NIT Rourkela , for its campus exposure and other perks. One can getv into NIT Rourkela through JEE Mains Examination and selected by JOSSA and CSAB rounds. Foreign students also get admission through DASA and other scholarships.

Faculty

3

The college has a faculty ration upto 1:10 . The faculties are very nice and supportive and are very much punctual to their ciriculum. Prof.Indrajit Sarkar and Hrishikesh Nayak are some of my favourite faculty members , I feel them to be very supportive and very friendly to their students , with no harsh marking scheme in exam and others. Yet there are still some faculty members who just want their ego to be satisfied and do not think about the welfare of the students. Two examinations are conducted every semester which includes mid semester and end semester , the exams are kind of moderate to hard sometimes, sometimes may also surprise the students while some papers are easy.

Night Life

4

There is gym in every hostel, every hostel has day and night canteens and number of resturants and shops inside the campus. There is no sch restriction in timings, and the entrance is biometric . Yes the locality is safe to roam at night but not the Jagda side.

Stduents get eligible from 5th semester for placements peaking at 6th semester of the college. Companies like Infosys, TCS, Tiger Analytics etc came but big pacakge placements offers are low . The highest package was 32 LPA and the average goes to 5-6LPA. The percentage goes to 90 % for placements. After getting degree you can go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

Placements at KIIT University for B.Tech CSE are decent and well structured, especially for students who prepare consistently. Students become eligible for campus placements from the 7th semester, although pre placement talks training sessions and internships start from the 5th or 6th semester. The university has a centralized placement cell that coordinates training aptitude tests mock interviews and company drives. Many reputed companies visit the campus every year including TCS Infosys Wipro Accenture Cognizant Capgemini Deloitte EY Mindtree LTI Bosch HP Amazon and a few product based startups. Mass recruiters make a large number of offers while product and service based companies offer selective roles. The average package for CSE students usually ranges between 4 to 5 LPA, while the highest package can go above 20 to 25 LPA in exceptional cases depending on the company and role such as software developer or data engineer. Around 75 to 85 percent of CSE students get placed through campus placements. Students who remain unplaced usually pursue higher studies startups off campus jobs or competitive exam preparation. Placement success largely depends on individual effort coding skills internships and communication ability. After completing my degree I plan to work in the software industry to gain practical experience and improve my technical skills. Alongside my job I also plan to upskill in advanced technologies and later consider higher studies or specialized roles depending on career growth.

Placement Experience:

I would rate the placements at my college as 3 out of 5. Students usually become eligible for campus placements from the sixth or seventh semester, and a few well-known companies do visit the campus every year. The placement cell helps with basic training like resume building and interviews, and many students, especially from IT branches, manage to secure jobs. At the same time, the average salary packages are not very high and top roles are limited, so a lot of students also focus on skill development, off-campus opportunities or higher studies after completing their degree

Placement Experience:

Placements at IIIT Bhubaneswar are generally good and improving, especially for students who stay consistent with coding, projects, and internships. In my college, students usually become eligible for campus placements from around the 7th semester (4th year), while many students start getting internship opportunities and pre-placement offers from the 5th–6th semester itself depending on skills. Every year, companies from the software and IT domain visit the campus for roles like Software Developer / SDE, QA, Analyst, Web Developer, and sometimes Data-related roles, and students also get offers through off-campus applications. Some of the common recruiters include companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant, Accenture, along with product/startup opportunities depending on the year, and multiple students receive more than one offer as well. The highest package and average package vary every year and depend a lot on branch, performance, and market conditions, but overall the college provides decent placement support and training sessions like aptitude, DSA guidance, and interview preparation. The placement percentage is also fairly good for students who actively participate in the placement process, while the rest generally go for higher studies or off-campus roles. After completing my degree, my plan is to either secure a good software developer role through campus/off-campus and build experience, or if I feel more interested academically, I may prepare for higher studies or competitive exams along with improving my skills.

Campus placement i thik it's in your 4 year of engineering only i.e in your 6 semester. There is a lot of companies visited like jsw ,hindulgo and a lot to go . Jsw provides avg package of INR 12 LPA And it selected only 2 students only. I think girls get placement easily as compared to boys ... companies usually select more female candidates....I think I will go for job rather than doing masters degree.
