What Students Say
Likes
- The study material was given at free of cost. The cost of it was included in the fees but it was very minimal.
- The teachers were not any different from that of a regular DU college.
- There was no mandatory attendance system as it's a distance learning.
Dislikes
- No social interactions. No events to increase social interactions among the students.
- The infrastructure of the South campus of SOL was very outdated and damaged. But they've started to arrange classes in regular colleges on weekends. The college changes every semester
Course Curriculum Overview
The only real world application I learnt from the course is vocab and the beauty of literature from different periods. The exams are conducted semester wise. The infrastructure of the college is an area that needs a lot of improvement.
Internships Opportunities
The internships are very minimal. Unpaid internships where all you gotta do is promote some news letter brand or something like that. The internships are not based on what we study. There might be some better internship but I haven't heard of any till now
Fees and Financial Aid
Fee for general students of first year was under 6000 and it was 50% less for the students belonged to other categories. The only financial aid was 50% off on the fee amount for the category students or students having BPL card.
Campus Life
There's no club, event or extra curricular activity conducted in this college. As it's a mode for distance learning and most of the students here are those who are either preparing for government jobs or already in one, or for housewives wanting to work but do not have a degree.
Admission
I got entolled in Kamla Nehru College, DU to study Philosophy, but then I decided to go for distance mode of learning as I was preparing for government competitive exams. So, I decided to major in English.
Faculty
Nothing much to say here. Being a distance mode of learning there's nothing much to say here. There's only one exam per semester and no assignments are there. I'm telling this from a POV of Eng Hons student. There's this one subject in the fourth semester in which no matter how hard you study you get failing marks. I don't know what's the deal and it's not even a hard subject though.
Night Life
There's no hangout place on the campus. But the university has started arranging classes in different colleges on the DU campus. You can get any college for a semester. My friend who is currently doing masters in English Hons got ARSD college.
Other Applied Colleges
Kamla Nehru College for Women - [KNC] | Bachelor of Arts [BA] (Philosophy)
I wanted to pursue distance education.
