Get insights of B.Sc Medical Technology

As this is a professional bachelor course which is first time introduced in govt colleges of Assam, so I think there is a wide range of scope in the furture for all the students from any economical background. This course was only prevalent in private colleges earlier but the introduction of such professional courses and that also in the medical field is a choice to make for all science students. There are a lot of areas that needs improvement but as this course started 2 yrs ago, it is still in the growing stage.

As we are the first batch so the internship has not yet started, it will start in our 4th year. But as told, the internship is going to be a good one with more and more clinical exposures and we as 2nd yr student also do our clinical duties daily and are learning a lot and preparing ourselves for the internship. There is also a research and dissertation in the final year.

Admission fees- Rs 15000/yr (as of 2022) And it has increased to Rs 18000 and same till date. Exam fee - Rs 3000/semester No category wise fees (It is same for all) Scholarship is available based on NSP portal and its is availed by students.

Campus life is quite good but as the overall campus are located far apart, so that's a minus point. No club involvement as the course is new. Freshers and foundation day are organized in a grand way every year. Library and cateen are also there in the college campus itself

I did not apply to any other college as my rank was in the top 50 and I got my choice of college. Not recieved any rejection from other college but I got admission in DU and the course I got was a normal B.Sc which was not my choice. So I quit that and made it here in GMCH Admission process is entrance based completely. Eligibility - 10+2 Science with 50% marks Entrance exam - Combined Entrance Exam (CEE) for both private and govt colleges. Cutoff- Varies yearwise as according to the rank the seats are alloted Total seats in all govt medical colleges of Assam (GMC,JMC,AMC,SMC) - 255

Faculty to student ratio is quite good as we have 3-4 faculties in each subject or more I may say. The relationship of faculty and student is also good as some students face language barrier so the faculties teach in both local language and English. Most of the teachers are supportive, and it is based on the student that he likes or dislikes them. Overall all of them are well supportive. Course Structure - 4 years Exam system - Semester wise. 1 mid term and 1 final exam are conducted in each semester Marking scheme - 30 in mid term (theory) 70 in final exam (theory) Overall 100 marks for theory and 100 for practical in each subject

As the college is in the heart of guwahati city, so we get a good nightlife to chill and hangout. After classes, mostly we sit around in the canteen or plan a outing in the nearby malls or parks. Its a very plus point to be here and explore so many things around guwahati in the day or night. The locality is also safe to roam around .
