Course Curriculum Overview

4

I had pursued graduation in commerce. I had studied various things which helped me in future in practical life. There were various subjects and project works related to own interested areas. We had done various projects on practical things and also done various surveys on various topics. Due to covid there were a gap of certain time. Although this is helpful. They can be more attentive to detailed analysis of the subjects. That would be more helpful.

Fees and Financial Aid

There was an admission fee of 5000. Then we had to pay our course fees on half yearly basis of Rs 2000. We have to pay it for 3 years. We had paid 6 installments. There were no further payments during the course. There was no known scholarships or aid provided by the college for merit cum need students. Many needy students completed the course while doing part time job.

Campus Life

4

There were an annual fest for all the fresher as a welcoming party organised by the college union. The union was very active and always available to help students in various cases. There were some curricular activities and that can be improved also. College also provides students facilities to the skilled students to outshine in sports sector. There was a huge library in the campus and the library was full of various books. Almost all categories of books were available.

Admission

Firstly, the college was near to me as compared to other colleges. The infrastructure was also good and well maintained. Secondly, the college has a well maintained online website and all details were available on the site. The application process was also easy. The admission fees are not too much higher than other colleges. Thirdly, the faculties are well educated and all were degree holders. There are various reasons to choose this one over any other colleges.

Faculty

4

There were separate faculty teachers for each subject and also departments. There was an HOD for each departments. All of them were helpful in every aspects. There were semester system in our time. Two exams were held in a year for a duration of 3 years. Total six semester were held. Before each semester students have to pay their semester fees according to their course's fee structure.

Night Life

4

There was a canteen in our college campus. The food quality should be improved and also the authority had to look after the price of the foods. During our course the college authority was setting up a gym for the students and that was well equipped. The locality was safe to roam around. We didn't have any night shifts in college so i can't elaborate accurately about the night but the locality is peaceful and the college is very near to the station.

Placement Experience:

Placements were not there earlier. But our batch was the first one to get placement at St Joseph's College Darjeeling. To be honest It is not a college you should target if you are looking for placement. The companies were too small . The roles are way to entry level . Highest placement was around 40000 per month but it was an inside sales role so many opt out. There is not official data about placement . My plan was to look for off campus jobs.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose the course the b.com because I want to become the CA but after completing the graduation my family condition was not very good so I quit my studies and searching for the job. My dream was after B.com then I complete M.com then CA but I couldn't do that. I'm pursuing because I'm interested in understanding how businesses work and want a solid foundation in commerce and finance. It opens up various career paths in accounting, finance, management, and more. Plus, it's a versatile degree that can lead to professional certifications like CA, CS, or MBA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is of course outdated. Teaching methods are old. No case studies, competitions or project of any sort is there in the curriculum. Although a project of 100 marks is there in the final sem, but I don't think that's enough. There is no practicality in the curriculum and usability in career. The syllabus really needs an uplifment.
