Course Curriculum Overview

5

The curriculum is relevant in terms of current trends of journalism and English. The course has a lot of assignments that gets you hands on experience for what your career is going to be. Assignments can be really boring (like write a report) or really fun (make a short film)

Fees and Financial Aid

The Yearly fees paid for first year was - 1 lakh 20 thousand. It may or may not increase each year. The Registration fees was - 1500 The Uniform cost (which was compulsory and not included in yearly fees) was - 2600. This also may vary each year. It might increase or decrease. Newspaper Subscription (compulsory) - 600

Campus Life

5

The best part about christ is the amount of fests you get. NO OTHER COLLEGE has as many fests i will tell you that for sure. In the first month of college we had Darpan, then blossoms, then inbloom, magnificat, daksh, sound curry and so many more. ETHNIC DAY is the best event followed by blossoms. At ethnic day you begin with cultural dance performances of different cultures of the country. Then you procees to lunch. THE DJ IS the best part of the event. The end. Blossoms is an interdisciplinary event. Basically Arts vs Commerce vs Science vs all the other deaneries.

Admission

I applied to Jain university for the same course and got in but decided not to go ahead due to the campus. Jain was closer but only a single building is dedicated to Media Classes along with classes of other streams whereas christ has 2 whole buildings just for Media. The fee procedure with jain had a lot of huddles which again made me lean towards Christ because fee payment was smooth. In jain i had to pay 25k advance to book my seat (which i havent gotten back till date despite visiting the college) and then later the fees. In christ i paid the fees in one shot. Admissions process - registration - entrance exam - if you pass entrance then interview - if you pass both then congratulations youre now a christite. March on.

Faculty

Faculty-student ratio. For 7 classes, we have a total of 8 faculty members. You get a class teacher, coordinator and HOD. All three may or may not actually teach you. Classes are always interactive. For Journalism - Joel Sir's class is on par with Amoolya Maams class as my favourite classes to attend. For English- Felix sir is the best. He likes to tease and joke around with the class and we love that about him. He makes literature interesting. All teachers are strict about deadlines. Some teachers go a bit overboard on adhering to the dress code but thats not a problem as such. EXAMS - you need a minimum of 75% attendance to give exams. - for the END SEM exam, you need 85% ( for mid sem 75 is enough.) If you have less than that but more than 75% you need to pay a fine of 3000-5000 (only for end sem exams). If you have less than 75% then (I’m not 100% sure about this) you either pay 10% of your yearly fee OR youre held back for the semester (again, not sure about this.) Just make sure you have more than 75% and youre good. Papers are really easy if youve studied, really difficult if you havent. Most subjects have submission based end sems so you dont need to write an exam (but still keep your attendance above 75%) English subjects always have papers.

Night Life

4

The campus has restaurants in and around itself which are open till early hours of the night. The ones outside are open for much longer of course. The campus in itself has a mediocre gym, two beautiful libraries lots of place to sit and idle around. No one complains about loitering. I believe the hostel in campus has a strict curfew of 9:30. The ones outside campus are double the price but provide more facilities and is more lenient with the curfew.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum here feels more practical and idea driven rather than just theory based which was one of the main reasons I chose this course it focuses on design thinking creativity and real execution instead of only textbook learning One of the strongest parts is how it slowly builds your understanding from basics to advanced concepts through projects assignments and presentations this helps in preparing for real world work because you are constantly creating and improving your portfolio rather than just studying for exams The curriculum does prepare you for industry to a good extent especially in terms of creative thinking software usage and project handling but it can improve by including more updated trends real time industry briefs and collaboration with professionals which will make it even more relevant Teaching methods are mostly interactive and practical but sometimes they can include more workshops guest sessions and exposure to current market tools to enhance learning experience Exams are conducted with two internal assessments of around 40 marks each followed by a final semester exam of 70 marks theory and 30 marks practical the difficulty level is moderate if you attend classes and complete your work regularly it is manageable Overall the curriculum is strong in building creative foundation and practical skills but with a few updates and more industry exposure it can become even more effective for future careers
