Course Curriculum Overview

5

There are 2 exams throughout the semester : 1 end semester and 1 mid semester. Mid sems are of 30 marks, end sems are of 50 marks, and 20 marks for quiz and assignments. Overall scoring numbers are difficult. In case the whole class do not perform well, the proffessor reduces the grading criteria to help people score decent grade. There are some times extra classes on saturday as well as sunday. For me personally OP Verma and Shila Tiwari mam are the best teachers in ICE. They will keep you motivated to study through all 4 years. Faculty is strict but they should be strict somewhere so students do not deviate.

Internships Opportunities

4

You need to have an alteast of 7 cgpa to sit in intership. The internship season starts in 5th semester for all branches. Many companies visit college like pocketFM, rapidfort, reliance, BPCL, google, microsoft, goldman sachs, salesforce and many more. If you are eligible to sit in internship and have decent technical and core knowledge you will surely get internship through college. In case you get an intenrship offcampus you need to submit an NOC signed by college authorities. 2 months internship after 6th semster and 6 month internship after 8th semster. Also college allow for overeseas intenship in 8th semester.

Placement Experience

5

The placement scenario of circutal branches is very good in college. You can sit for all tech companies that come in college. It's 4 months since internship season started and already companies like google, micrsoft ,schrodinger, expedia, and accenture have come to college. Almost 50 percent of students get internship and 95 percent students get places. Internship is compulsory after 6th semester for 2 months and you can go or semester long internship in 8th semester. Many internship students get PPO after coming back. Also placement season begins in 7th semester for all branches. Many students go for masters directly after bachelors also.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees structure for both general and OBC candidate is same. Family income less than 1LPA : Rs. 25500 per semester Family income between 1LPA and 5LPA : Rs. 43360 per semester Family income greater than 5LPA : Rs. 88000 per semester This fee is structure is for all bachelor courses. SC/ST student fees is less than general and OBC students. College does not have a scholarship of it's own. But you can apply for scholarships from other organisations and government, college will provide the supporitng documents if needed for the scholarship. Like there was a scholarship for SC/ST girls from bathinda, the college provided the information to the students themselves, you can see it in the student section on the official college website.

Campus Life

4

My club experiece of college have been very good. I am member of criminals, dance club, and it have helped me grow a lot. We went to thapar, PU and many colleges for competitons and have won many titles. You will a club of your interest for sure. There are dance, faishon, music, esports, literary and debating, drones, robitics and many more clubs. You get to interact with college seniors through clubs. Also it is necessary to select a club as foundation elective in first semster. You will develop many soft skills through clubs. The clubs are leaded by a student and the student report to the concerned faculty coordaintors.

Hostel Facilities

4

The new mega girls hostel is recently inaugrated and are very good. The rooms are very large and each floor have bathrooms, water coolers, and sepearate washing machine room. There are total 4 lifts in girls hostel so you don't need to worry if some lift is not working. The mess food is pretty good, you can also buy items like lays and chochlates, it will be dedeucted from mess bill of each month. There are not much options to rent a PG around the college, also it is not recommended to rent a PG as the surrounding area is very unsafe, and daily travel makes us more prone to attacks.

Admission

I am a dropper student in JEE 2021, got a decent rank in JEE 2022. I could not get into computer science in any government college but I know for me to get into tech company in future I need to get into a circutial branch. NIT Jalandhar provides a variety of circuital branches so I know that the circutial branch would be good here. Also ICE is the oldest circuital branch in this college. NIT Jalandhar is ranked way above other NITs in NIRF ranking so I chose this college. I also applied to VIT and BITS, I was selected for VIT Vellor Computer science and BIT goa computer science, but I chose NIT because it is a government college, you get a tag and fees is also low.

Faculty

3

The faculty is very strict, the papers are very hard and and marking is very strict. There is exist a 75 percent attendance criteria but there is some relaxation every semester. The faculty to student ratio for overall college is between 75 and 85. Branches like have Computer science have low ratio whereas branches like have biotechnology have high ratio. You need to prepare for GATE level questions for numericals. Every semester almost 5percent student fail some subject. The syllabus is a bit outdated but is upto industry standard. You can also opt for other branch courses in fifth, sixth, and seventh semester. Overall the diffculty is very high in all circuital branches.

Night Life

2

There are not many places to hang out in college. The good places to eat are only dominos and nescafe, there are some local canteens as well but they are not worth the money. There are only 2-3 designated student areas where students can hang out and the gardens are in faculty quarters which are not accessible to students. The intime of college for girls is 8pm and for hostels is 10pm. You cannot go alone at night outside the college as the surrounding area is not safe. College is safe to walk as there are many security guards in the college all over the place. Overall the nighlife is average, as you can expect in a government college.

Course Curriculum Overview:

From the begning i was always into tech and computers i liked to make my school persentation on my pc and that's the main reason for taking the stream CSE . The curriculum makes you ready for thr real world application by providing classes for eveything that a student is facing problem. If you ask me for the suggestion then some teachers should change their tecahing methods so that they will help the student in a better way . The frequency and timing of the exam goes like the college conducts two internal exams for the internal marks known as MST and one final exam and the difficulty level is medium

In LPU placement process usually start from 6th semester onwards. Many good companies come to campus like Infosys, Wipro, TCS, Cognizant, Accenture, Amazon and few product based also. Some startups also visit. The no. of offers are quite large every year because batch size is big. Highest package I heard was around 40 LPA but that is very rare, only 1-2 students get. Average package is around 5–6 LPA for CSE branch. For other branches it is little bit low. Almost 80-85% students who are seriously preparing gets placement from college. College also provide placement training and soft skills classes which help in interviews.
