Remarks

Being a government institute, college management is not directly concerned about the students. Anything and everything regarding management has to be done through the student union.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum for the course is vast and cover all the basic as well as research topics of Exploration Geophysics. The syllabus included topics related to Gravity, Magnetic, Electrical and Electromagnetic, Seismic, Well Logging, and Stratigraphy with the basic introduction to the Structural and Physical Geology. There are two in-semester examinations conducted each semester as per the completion of the set syllabus and feasibility of the students and teacher. The end semester examinations are conducted in the month of December and June. The course curriculum is research-driven altogether and it is designed in a way to help us grow in the research field of our study area.

Placement Experience

1

The placement of my college is way below par. In 2019, no company visited the campus for our department. The department arranges for internship in various PSUs like ONGC, OIL, and NHPC. I did my internship at NHPC and did my dissertation work from ONGC.

College Events

5

Different department in the University organizes events and workshop based on their schedule and scope. Technical Fest is conducted in the month of September. Cultural fest in the month of November. The University conducts Varsity Week every year in the month of March-April. In the varsity week, all the departments compete with each other in various cultural, social, academic, and sports event.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees for my course was 32460 INR for Odd semesters and 30000 INR for even semester. My expenses varied from 10000-15000 INR per month. The expenses varied depending upon the season and food. As I was staying outside the campus expenses also include monthly rent, electricity bill, and groceries.

Fees and Financial Aid

No, I did not opt for any scholarship or education loan. I belong to the general category so I do not get a scholarship so easily. However, the university has various scholarships for girls and the reserved category students. The university also has various schemes and fee remission for various tribes living in the remote locations

Campus Life

4.5

Campus life at Dibrugarh University is awesome. Everyone there is friendly and the atmosphere all through is beautiful. Students from all part of northeast India and also from another part of India come there for their post-graduation. Many foreign nationals are also enrolled in the University. The sports facilities there is mind-blowing. The campus has two playgrounds, one indoor playing facilities, basketball court, tennis court, Gym among many things.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network of the university is average and there is no official organization for the same, however, the senior students were very helpful and they helped me a lot in settling there.

Admission

Department of Applied Geology conducted an individual Aptitude test and a personal interview to select students for the M.Tech course. My Test was conducted on July 26, 2017, and the results were announced on July 27, 2019. The classes commenced on August 1, 2017.

Faculty

4.5

All the faculty of my departments had a Ph.D. degree or were in pursuit of one. They have a deep and sound knowledge of the syllabus they are teaching and also have an innovative and unique method to help the student understand the topics. They were quite helpful and used various techniques and method to help us learn better.
