AN EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE IN IIT GUWAHATI

All are mostly pros. But there are some cons too. Cons- Good restaurants who serve great food are not present. Sometimes life is very fast paced with a lot of pressure due to which we cannot enjoy life(only sometimes) Stationaries are quite costly such as xerox, etc Mess food is not upto the mark but they try very hard to uplift themselves.

The course is well structured. Reasearch work depends on the students itself. If one wanted to do so he or she can pursue it very comfortably. The Lab were a blessing with almost all the instrument available at the students disposal. The exams were ofcourse stressfull as the level of the papers were very high indeed. The day seemed to be hectic sometimes and sometimes chilled.

Placements are subjective in nature. Technical department such as Civil, Mechanical receive less number of companies where as department such as Computer science receive extraordinary packages from high profile compnies like microsoft, google, etc.

My total Fees amount to 36000 rupees per semester including the Hostel fees. I also receive MhourD scholarship for qualifying Gate Examination. These are very feasable in nature and student loans can also be given easily

MhourD scholarship for Post Graduate students are available. One can also get different scholarship based on government and merit.There are two major banks(Canara nad SBI) which can distribute loans to the needy

The gender ratio is on the lower side but there are special reservation for Female students in Undergraduate level. Workshops are high level and be attended by anyone interested. People of different ethnicity studies in peace and harmony. The environment is very generic for students who want to focus in their academic portions. Political expression are usually not present. People with different economic background study together with no contempt.

The hostel are well conditioned although they are a part of government based intitution. A single room is provided for each student with all the facilities. A common washouroom is present which is well maintained. There are no Aor conditioned rooms available

Alumni Network are an integral part of the campus. Students are well in contact with the seniors and they are very helpful. They tell us about different mistakes that they made during their time so that we don't make such. Freshers parties are also organised by them which lifts up the student's morale.

I got admission based on Gate 2019 Exam. My first preference was Geotechnical Engineering and I got it in a spot round. Spot round was held for all the courses on July and I had to be present for it.The spot round was based on Higher gate Score. Those with higher score easily got what they wanted. Apart from it reservation also played an important role.

The faculty are highly qualified and well deserve to be present in such institutions. They can guide the students provided one must show interest in their works. Some faculties also take in students as a part of their research curriculum.
