Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is of high relevance as it ensures that the student learns everything he need to learn in an mbbs life to become a good doctor. The curriculum we are now following is decided by the National Medical Council (NMC) of India and is CBME curriculum. The curriculum include many Self directed learning methods and small group discussions etc which makes the learning interesting and easy. The curriculum definitely prepares the students to become a good doctor in future. Some minute improvements are still required like no need of these many SGDs for community medicine and forensic. It'll be better to include more field activities in community medicine . The frequency and timing of exams are sometimes a burden for the students as the exams are so close and they are not getting enough time to improve themselves which may affect their confidence. Sometimes the exams are scheduled in between some meets conducted by university which makes it difficult for the students to participate.

Internships Opportunities

4

There is a compulsory 1 yr intership for the students after completing their course in which they will be paid about 27000/- rupees pe month. After the completion of the compulsory intership the students can practice outside if they want or go for higher studies.

Fees and Financial Aid

The year-wise fees I'm paying to my university is 25325 rupees which include tution fee of rupees 22050 and exam fee of rupees 3275. The tution fee is fixed whereas the exam fee changes according to the number of papers you are attending in each year. Apart from this other compulsory fees I'm paying to the college are hostel fee (9400/-) , miscellaneous fee (3320/-). Every category including the SC, ST categories need to pay this fee but their fees are directly settled by the scholarship amount of E-grantz scholarship provided by the state government and central government. Students other than SC, ST can also avail this scholarship if they meet the economic criteria and are eligible for it. But their fees is not directly settled instead it'll be credited to their account with time.

Campus Life

4

There are many festivals held in the campus across the academic year. One of the main annual function include the convocation of the final year students who are getting ready for the farewell. Apart from this many other academic and cultural festivals are also held. Every festivals including onam, Christmas Diwali etc are celebrated in the campus. Hostel day , College day , Arts and Sports competition are also held between inter batch annually. Coming to the library section, the library is open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm . Almost all the books of clinical and non clinical subjects required for the students and faculties are available in the library. We are not allowed to carry the book outside the library but have the facility of a nice reading room to read and study the book within the library premise. The class rooms are well lighted and ventilated with projector and smart boards available for easy and quality teaching. The class room is of gallery type where it can accomodate nearly 200 students at a time. Many clubs including dance club , music club , theatrics club , NSS are there in the campus in which the students are active members.

Hostel Facilities

5

Hostel facilities are good enough. A clean and spacious room is available. 3 students are required to share a single room with a common bathroom for 2-3 rooms. It is not compulsary for the students to stay in hostel. They can also rent a room outside and stay. But comparatively it is easy safe and less expensive if we choose college hostel even though facilities will be a little less. The meal and menu is of good quality which include both veg and non veg items. Some of the dishes available are Chicken biriyani, porotya, fish fry, dosa , idli etc Registration to the hostel is done at the time of admission itself . The registration orocess is simple and easy to carry out. The fee is of less burdened compared to outside rented rooms. Currently the hostel is enough to accommodate the whole students in it. The locality is sage even if u reng a room outside as it's in a city. Many rooms are available neaathe college campus itself. The cleanliness and affordability varies according to the room you choose.

Admission

I got this college based on my marks and rank obtained in the NEET UG entrance exam. You can apply for as many as colleges you like across the country but you'll get according to your rank. The cutoff marks each year depends on the toughness of the exam and the number of seats in mbbs is also increasing yearly. You can't get admission into a medical college in India without writing NEET entrance exam . I've applied to many other colleges also but I was not eligible according to my rank. But this college is also a good one as there are many clinical cases available here which is necessary in a ug life.

Faculty

3

The number of faculty a student interact will be changing each year as the subjects are changed. The first year we will be having Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry as subjects which are preclinical subjects in which each department have nearly 5 to 6 teaching staffs and nearly 10 non teaching staffs including HOD , assistant and associate professors. The subjects change to clinical subjects like medicine, surgery , obg etc. in the coming years. All the faculties are approachable and are in agood relationship with the students. Sometimes the faculties did not get time to interact with the students, especially faculties of clinical departments as they need to treat and deal with the out patients also. There are exams conducted for theory and practical seperately. The exams are of average level in which 1 or 2 students fail to clear. There will be internal and model exams conducted before the final exams and students need to fullfill their internal marks to write the final University exam. Apart from this end posting are conducted every month ofbthe clinical postings from second year onwards. The structure of exams is mainly application level and students need to pay attention in the clinics to clear it. In first no clinical postings will be there so no need to worry about end posting exams.

Interview Experience

4

The admission was based on NEET entrance exam. The topics were mainly 11th and 12th ncert syllabus. The toughness of the exam varies every year and the cutoff rank and marks depends upon it. I have taken a drop of one year after 12th class to prepare for this entrance.

Night Life

3

The college campus is situated atbthe heart of a city , so almost all facilities are available atthe finger tip. There are theatres , hotels and other hangout spots available near the college where students can spent their leisure time after class. Gym facilities are available in the campus nwar to the hostel and students can acces it anytime. A cafeteria in also available in the campus which is large enough to accommodate the students and quality food is served. Night life is not a big problem as the campus and the town outside the famous is almost active 24hrs.

Course Curriculum Overview:

It's always relevant to the content being taught by the teachers. They always use application based questions to prepare us for a real life situation as well. First aid training was also completed. Some of the teachers are very interactive while some not. Short exams are conducted on a weekly basis while internal exams are conducted every 2/3 months. Not that difficult but it isn't that easy either. Very strict checking, nothing is liberal.
