What Students Say?
Likes
- The college is located in an excellent area, most people are helpful and the vibe is chill. It's not stressful regarding attendance or marks. The crowd especially for Arts is quite good and you will find some great people here.
- They arrange flee markets and stalls which are quite fun each year
Dislikes
- some teachers are mean and don't finish their portions until the very last minute
- felt like they reinforce Christian propaganda subtly in lectures but I guess that everyone now
Course Curriculum Overview
The course work is fine in my opinion. It is basic, nothing extravagant. Since they are under Mumbai University I don't think the college has control over the syllabus but speaking from syllabus pov, I think it can be more updated. The reason why I chose this course was strictly because of my future goals and also because the faculty was good. The exams are not that frequent but the difficulty level is quite moderate.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure increased from first year to third year with an increment of around 2000 rupees. It was around 5,000 in FY and around 7,000 in TY. I was in general quota although the fee structure is similar for everyone. The fees you pay covers library, tuition, examination fee mostly. You may apply for scholarships though that is highly uncommon because the fees is mostly affordable.
Campus Life
There used to be Mosaic which was mostly between the months of November to January but they stopped that now as far as I know. The library has a good collection although it is quite outdated and old. In the classrooms, we have projectors and whiteboards and most teachers use ppts to teach. The extracurriculars are limited and not that interesting, there is nothing that is fixed. They may have certain events one year and then cancel them the next. There are a few clubs and groups but they are usually headed by teachers.
Admission
I applied here at the time of Covid and this was the first college I got in. I did not wait for other college lists and just enrolled in this one because everything was affected during Covid and we had no idea what would happen next. I continued in this college simply because I was used to it and didn't want to bother going to a new place. The admission process is quite easy I would say. Eligibility critera as a general category would require you to score above 80% in your boards to get into the first and second list. For my course there is no entrance, most courses in the college are merit based. Admission proxess went by smoothly for me, you just have to go in for verification once and everything else is pretty much online.
Faculty
In first year we had 2 teachers each for 6 subjects and 1 teacher each for remaining two. It was similar in second year and then we only had two for third year. The overall faculty is suffering because a lot of teachers leave often. The english faculty was great in particular, I really admire them. They explained concepts well and were nice to students and also helpful. The psychology faculty did not care that much and just rushed through their portions and sometimes said problematic things. For exams, you have two exams per year in BA, just two sem ends. The paper setting is medium level difficult. A few students fail because they do not study. The course curriculum is relevant but also lowkey outdated especially for English, I feel they can havr better works to study.
Night Life
The locality is quite safe. There are a few joints nearby. The location is quite good everything is within a short distance. There is Andora's nearby which is a good place. A short walk there is a place called Family Table in Pali Naka which is very good and affordable. You also have Hearsch nearby which is better than andoras but does not have seating facilities. There is no hostel in College, the campus timings are from 6 am to 5 pm approx. unless there are exams or events
