Course Curriculum Overview

5

The curriculam is well thought of. Every year our Director Dr.Sreeram Gopalkrishnan takes feedback from the faculty and the students and tries to make out diferent subjects and what can help the students in better learning. The curriculam is made remembering the fact that it needs to be applied in real world and students are taught the course with the idea of making sure they are prepared for the real world and the industry of media. The examination is done with utmost sincerity and questions are made such that the students have to think about the subject and what they have been taught in the subject the whole semester.

Internships Opportunities

5

The college provides with Internship oppurtunities themselves at the end of every year. You can choose the place you want to intern at and if the company responds and agrees you can go ahead and do the internship. After first year you have to complete a Developmental Sector Internship where you work under NGOs and after second year you have the industry internship where you work in the industry and learn the nitigrities of the industry.

Placement Experience

4

The students become eligible for campus placements from Semester 6. There are numerous companies like Zomato, The Quint, Hindu etc that visit the campus and whose offers are made for the students. The highest package offered has been INR 7 lacs per annum and the Average package is INR 3.60 Lacs per annum. The campus placements has been 85% based on the number of students that opted for it. My plans after getting my degree is to go ahead for my masters in either creative writing or marketing and then start working on a job but this may change.

Fees and Financial Aid

The year wise fees for Symbiosis Centre for Media and Communication is 3,66,794. There is a 20,000 rupees deposit fees that is refunded later on. The course fee is pain semester wise. There are scholarships available such as the merit scholarship that is awarded to the topper of semester 1 of the undergraduate programme and is subsequently provided to the same student if there GPA is above 8.75.

Campus Life

5

Symbiosis Centre for Media and Communication has 2 major fests. The first one is Satrang which is our cultural fest and the second one is Rush which is our sports fest. Other than this there are three different fests that are inter batch. They are called Maadhyam, Vaividhya and Pramana. These fests are cultural and industry related. There are loads of books and movies available for research purposes in our library. There are batch teams and then University teams for sports which are made by the captains. There are quite a few clubs that are run around the year.

Hostel Facilities

5

The hostel is one of the best hostels provided. There are double and triple sharing rooms. Every room has it's own attached bathroom. The meals and the menu are made keeping in mind student's tastes and they are made with hygine. The registration is pretty simple. You send out an email to the person incharge who then help you go through the whole process and once you have paid fees and sent an email of the same they provide you with a room. There are no preference available. There are 4 girls hostel amongst which you can choose yours if you are on time. There is only 1 hostel available for boys.

Admission

Symbiosis Centre for Media and Communication is considered one of the best colleges for Media in India. The college not only provides with theoritical knowledge but also practical knowledge with not just assignments but also Internships and a look into the industry. The college thrives to bring in the best teachers to allow their students a chance at the best knowledge and idea of the industry before they step into the industry themselves. SCMC tries to bring out the best version of their students and help them tap into their creative minds and work around ideas and facts to bring out their vision and make it into a reality. I was offered a different college as well but SCMC was my priority due to this exact reason. The college allowed me to bring out the most creative version of myself and bring stories to the audience in everyway I can. The admission process was pretty simple. I had to register for the SET exam on SCMC's website after which I was allowed to sit and give the test twice. The test in which I scored the highest out of the two was considered and I was chosen to go to the next stage where I was given a written test and had to write an essay. After this there was a personal interview round where in I was asked multiple questions. After I passed all of that I was allowed admission in the college. The eligibilty is being a 10+2 pass student.

Faculty

5

The faculty to student ratio is 1:150. While the ratio might sound a lot but in reality, when you are in the class it works out. The faculty is very approachable and answer questions with utmost professionalism. All of them are extremely professional and have experience of the field. Along with that they are extremely knowledgeable and provide with quick and satisfying answers. In terms of exams, There is a semester end exam every semester and a mid semester exam of about three hours with three subjects all together. Other than that the markings are done on the basis of internal assignments.

Interview Experience

5

Yes the college has two seperate steps after their SET. The first is a written test where they give you a very general topic and ask you to write an essay of about 500-1000 words. After that there is PI which is personal Interview. They ask you questions about the course that you have taken and about yourself which are also pretty generic. To prepare you just need to have a good English and be confident in your answers

Night Life

5

The Viman Nagar area is filled with cafes and gyms and libraries for students to look from. There are cafes which provide with Symbiosis discount for students of the college and other than that there are loads of hangout places which provide cheap but yummy food. The hostel provided by the college has a 10 P.M curfew and the campus is open till 5 P.M. The locality is extremely safe as it's majorly a student dominated area but if there are some problems, the area is filled with buildings and you can contact any guards around who will help you.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is neither difficult nor easy. It is a good curriculum for even an average student. The teacher mostly used the traditional teaching method. It needs to be improved. The exam's difficulty level is not so high again good for average students

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculam is designed for all round development of the student and to make that person an expert in that field, these aspects influeneced me to choose it. Very well, with extra paper of real world application on each subject it ensures that we take something from the course and become industry ready The teachings methods and cirriculam are excellent I don't think any changes are required Exams are all year round, every month and are extremly difficult to deal with, as Xavier's bar is very high.
