Course Curriculum Overview

4

The courses are well-planned and are very useful and informative. The course structure is very well planned by the professors which ensures that all the necessary content is taught. The exams can be surprise quizzes, mid-semester exams, end semester exams, or also some assignments, But sufficient time is provided to prepare for each of them. I chose this course because I hated chemistry and did not want to go into something that involved a lot of chemistry or bioengineering but rather physics. I was studying civil engineering, and I thought it matched my interests. Civil engineering also provided me sufficient time to inculcate extra skills like software development and learning AI/ML, which may help me in the future. Also, this field has a lot of scope for higher studies- master's or even research. I can even go abroad to pursue higher education in fields of civil engineering. One thing I would have liked would to have more of computer science courses. As it is the need of the current time, having these courses will help students to better prepare themselves for non core job and career opportunities

Internships Opportunities

4

In the current ongoing placement season, we have got the highest stipend of around 65 lacs for 2 months internship to 2 people. It is for quant and SDE role in Netherlands. There are many companies that come for internship drive in the campus- Google, Amazon, Qualcomm, Nvidia, Goldmann Sachs, Oracle, Paytm, etc IIT Hyderabad also has many Japanese companies coming for internships like DeNA, etc. The stipend for internships vary. Generally if it is a summer internship for two months- its between 1-2 lacs. If it is a semester long internship the stipend varies between 40k to 1 lac

Placement Experience

3

Here, students can try for internships in the 3rd year. Some students who want to pursue higher education like MTech or MBA or PhD don't go for placements and internships. The placement rounds happen in the 4th year where many companies come to the campus, exams and interviews are conducted to shortlist students. For example, in my branch of civil engineering, the placement percentage last year was 50%, with the average package being around 14 lacs. Many companies come to the campus and the highest package last year was 90 lacs which was for a quant role. There are mostly companies coming for SDE and AI/ML roles. The number of companies coming for Consulting or product management roles is quite declining over the years. My plan is to try for placement in some Tech company, and work for some years then pursue a MBA.

Fees and Financial Aid

The yearly fee for my course is around 2.9lac rupees, which is around 1.45lac rupees per semester. Here is the breakdown of my semester fee: Tuition Fee- 100000 Other fee- 11000 Student welfare fund- 500 Hostel expenses- 15000 Mess expenses- 16319 The fees for the first semester is higher due to- Joining fee- 5000 Student Activities Fund- 3000 Security deposit- 9000 Medical Insurance- 1550 These are paid only for the first semester and not in the further semesters. Additionally, I also had to pay 40000 as my seat acceptance fee, which was later on deducted from my first semester fee. So the total fee for the first semester was around 160000. As I belong to the general category, I get no fee benefits. However, people belonging to other categories get a fee waiver. Their fees are significantly lower. The tuition fee is waived for them. Similar benefits are available for people with a family income below the specified limit (under 500000 or 700000). Students with physical disabilities are also provided with similar benefits.

Campus Life

4

The campus life here is entirely not satisfactory. The cultural and tech fest is elan&nvision. They are typically held in February. Many a times the fests lack good artists due to lack of money for organising these fests The library here is very good. It has a wide range of books covering almost every topic that one may want to read; from fiction, drama, design to science. The classrooms are also great. Recently, the new Lecture Hall Complex was inaugurated, which has classrooms with up to 800 seating capacities with world-class amenities- ACs, smart boards, comfortable desks and chairs, etc. The sports complex is also very good with almost facilities for all the sports and games- from chess and carrom to gym, swimming, and squash! The college has many student run clubs. I was a part of three such clubs in my first year- Ecell, TEDx and Finace and Consulting Club. Each club tries to be active and conduct events around the year. Currently, I am a coordinator in FCC and TEDx. It is great to join clubs as you get some refreshment from academics as well as you get to interact with people especially seniors

Hostel Facilities

3

We have 18 hostel buildings in our campus out of which 15 are single occupancy and the rest are double sharing hostels for freshers. Some hostel buildings are 10 storey high while others are 6 storeys. The mess is very close to the hostels. The hostels have radiant cooling system which keeps the rooms very much cool even in hot summers. The hostel area room is also quite sufficient for a single occupant. They provide an almirah. a chair, a desk, a bed, a fan, light, night lamp, tubelight for our rooms The mess food quality is very average. The food taste is fine but it becomes boring as they don't change their menu for a very long time. Although the breakfast is very good.

Admission

I chose this college because it has got an absolutely great NIRF Ranking 8. Moreover, this is a government college, so it has comparatively lesser fees. I could not get into much better-ranked colleges due to my JEE Advanced Rank. But, this college has all the facilities that I longed for. The admission rounds for IITs happen through JoSAA, which goes on for almost 2 months. Sometimes, the process may be a bit hectic because of its unpredictable nature. But for me, it was quite comfortable.

Faculty

4

The faculty is quite supportive. Although sometimes they may become quite strict. They can be easily approached and any concern can be solved easily. There are many times no attendance criteria, but it also depends from professor to professor. The evaluation criteria are generally relative, but some courses may have absolute grading. Some professors may be lenient in their evaluation criteria and also give grades easily, while some follow a very strict regime. There are, on average, 9-10 courses per semester. The college follows a fractal system. So, all the exams do not come up at once but rather periodically. Courses are categorized into basic sciences, core courses, electives, etc. We have a course named Mechanics of Solids and Structures, which is very difficult for me. The professor also doesn't teach that well, and one of the reasons that I hate this course is due to a change in faculty, which made the condition even worse. His exam was quite tough, with a class average of about 25/100. On the other hand, liberal arts courses are quite easy, and a good grade can be obtained from them. They have an online MCQ exam, which is not hard, and good marks are easy to obtain. There is a course named Transform Techniques, which was the toughest exam I had ever taken. In the batch of our seniors, 13 out of 55 students failed the course. Luckily, in our batch, nobody failed. The thing I hate about some professors is that sometimes they don't care if the student understands something or not. They just do their job of teaching and go.

Night Life

4

The nighlife is also good. We have Dominos operating until midnight. Also, the Isthara foodcourt runs all day. Our canteen shop- ChaiAmruth and Amul runs till late night. The sports complex including the gym closes till 9pm. Although the old sports courts are open till midnight. There is a lot of activeness even at nights, especially around canteen areas. There are no hostel in timings. It is safe to roam in and out of the campus at all times. There are CCTVs as well as security guards all over the campus. The students are often found at a local dhaba which is just outside the campus -even late night.

From 4th year 1st semester, the students become eligible for campus placements. About 10-15 companies visited our college with minimum 3 lpa. And only 30% of students are placed in the campus placement. Companies like virtuza, movate, cognizant, hcl visited our campus for placement. The highest package was 4.5 lpa and lowest was 2.8 . My plans after getting degree is work in a reputed mnc.

Course Curriculum Overview:

the course curriculum of our college runs under the guidance of JNTU where all the fundamentals such as DSA ,program, data base and CN also core math are given in this college divides the conceptual, lessons in 5 units .for each unit we have submit assignment unit test and also an ALP which is concentrated on learning ,mechanisam which help student revise the concept in class itself. In terms of real world the curriculum builds the theoritical, knowledge but somewhat limited exposure where students should have get internships for an industry level experience or else atleast a entry level jobs help the students to learn as well.Area of improvement include more hands- on project works and more interactive teaching methods Like case studies and problem ,based, learning. Exams are regularly for 2 mid term for semester and one end semester exam.the difficulty level is moderate and manageable with consistent and study and focusing more on understanding concepts rather than rote learning

Course Curriculum Overview:

I am very Passionate about Computer Science. So I joined Information Technology which is the same as CSE. Information technology mostly offers the same opportunities as CSE in VNRVJIET. So, I preferred IT in VNRVJIET. In VNRVJIET, Hyderabad faculty: student ratio is approx 1:40 which is considered as Average ratio. Most of the Faculty are PHD Graduates but there are less number of Professors. Mostly there are Assistant Professors whose Teaching Methodology is average to Good but not rated as Better in terms of Teaching. Professors are good at Teaching but Some Assistant Professors are not as good as we expected. There are mostly newly joined PHD faculty members were there who will teach in a slow manner. Every 5-6 months we have Semester Exams which are mostly easy to pass if we have somewhat knowledge of the subject.
