What Students Say
Likes
- I liked the overall affordability of the college as the yearly fees is just around rupees 16 thousand.
- I liked the the environment of the campus as it surrounded by green himalayan foothills and situated in an urban area with good facilities like shops and restaurants.
- I liked the friendly environment provided by the students of the college with absolutely zero ragging.
Dislikes
- I disliked the faculty of the college as most of the professors are old aged and lack the ability to teach students in a modern way.
- I did not like the placement facilities of my college as there are absolutely zero big companies that come here for campus placements.
- I did not like the condition of the classrooms of the college and they are in dire need of maintenance.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is pretty decent with some important subjects being taught with good focus. In case of my department of civil engineering, subjects like Mechanics, Surveying, concrete technology, etc are taught with good focus. Extra curricular activities like dancing, singing and sports also take up a good amount of importance in the college.
Internships Opportunities
The internship opportunities are limited and the college only sends the students for internship to government and PSU sectors like OIL, PGCL and ONCG sites and offices. Other colleges in the region are providing far better internship opportunities in big companies.
Placement Experience
The placements of the college is pretty average as most of the core companies have not visited the college for more than two times. Companies like OIL, PGCL, ONGC, etc have visited the college very few times and come after a gap of 2-3 years. Moreover, they choose only 1-2 students from each department. Tech companies like Tech mahindra, cognizant, etc come to the college but offer pretty low packages of just 4-6 LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
The typical fees of the college is around rupees 16,000 per year. This fees includes all the costs related to hostel seat, WiFi, security fees, medical fees and everything else. The lab fees and other compulsory charges are included in the regular fees of Rs 8000 per semester. It increases at a rate of 5% after every two years. The hostel mess fees is separate and it is around rupees 15,000 per semester and it includes all the food costs.
Campus Life
The campus life is good with decent facilities like shopping complex, stadiums, basketball court, badminton court and much more. The campus has good recreational spots where students can sit and enjoy their free time. The only issue in the campus life is that there is too much scrutiny from seniors and faculties regarding personal relationships..
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are very average in the college and are in dire need of renovation and maintenance. Most of the hostels are atleast 30 years old and are starting to crumble down and crying for maintenance. The hostels provide good food but for vegetarians, the options are limited and lack good taste. The hostels can be improved a lot.
Admission
I choosed this college because the college was pretty affordable and was providing adequate facilities for studying and hostel. The college also has a good curriculum including extra curricular activities. This is the reason why I chose this college over others.
Faculty
The faculty of the college is pretty average as most of them are old aged and lack the ability to teach students in a modern and engaging way. The faculty to student ratio is almost 1:16. Some of the good faculty members include Raju Barthakur of Humanities department and Yamem Tamut from Civil Engineering department. These professors are trying hard to teach students in a engaging and modern way. Some faculty members are very unsupportive and try to instil fear in the minds of students for their subjects.
