Likes
- Student culture is great. Lots of acitivities on campus. Junior senior relations are very helpful and genuine.
- College festivals. Synapse, i.Fest, Tarang and Concours have really uplifted the image of DAIICT in Gujarat.
- Placements. During recession as well, lot of tech giants (Google, Apple, etc) visited the campus and recruited ample students.
Dislikes
- Curriculum is very strict. The courses taught by the professors sometimes are too advanced and complex to understand.
- It is extremely difficult to get/maintain 8+ GPA as faculties are really strict while submitting grades.
- Diversity and Gender ratio is disproportionate. Most of the people are from Gujarat, and boys to girls ratio is 40 - 1.
Course Curriculum Overview
ICT includes most of the industry relevant courses like Operating Systems, Computer Networks, DBMS, OOPS, Software Engineering, Data Structures, Algorithms, Machine Learning, etc. Teaching methods could include providing practice questions after lectures for students to practice. Frequency is 3 exams per semester. Medium to hard difficulty.
Internships Opportunities
Microsoft 100000 stipend offered Summer Internship to 7 students. Sprinklr 200000 stipend offered SI to 12 students. Rest, Goldman Sachs, Bank of New York Mellon, Deutsche Bank, Barclays, UnifyApps, DE Shaw also offered several opportunities.
Placement Experience
Companies visit for Summer Internships in 5th semester, and for FTE in the 7th semester. Apple made 4 offers, Google made 7 offers. UnifyApps took 23 students. Oracle 11. Rest a lot of other companies visited like Uber, Meesho, Silverleaf, Gameskraft, Tekion, etc. Highest: 64LPA by Apple for SDET role. Avg: Drive still ongoing. Currently should be around 14LPA. 150+ students have been placed. I have been placed for a SDE role at 14LPA package.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yearly Fee structure (when I joined in 2021): 1. Tuition fees: 172000 2. Hostel fees: 45000 3. Registration fees: 2500 per semester 4. Caution Deposit: 20000 (one-time) 5. Mess Fees: No mess as such. Pay & Eat option available.
Campus Life
Synapse - Annual Cultural festival. Usually in February. i.Fest - Annual Tech Fest. In November. Concours - Annual Sports Festival, in November. All the books are available. Projectors, Mics, and speakers of good quality are available. Limited AC classrooms. Lot of extracurriculars offered. 33 student run clubs and committees, under the banner of Student Body Government which is led by 4 office bearers elected by the students.
Hostel Facilities
All basic facilities provided like drinking water, 24*7 electricity, washing machines etc. Affordable @ 45k per year. No AC rooms. Something that can be improved. Good drinking water quality. Triple / Double sharing rooms based on your year of studying.
Admission
At 12.7k AIR in JEE '21 , I was getting SVNIT ECE, IIIT Gwalior 5 year course and NIT Patna CSE. Chose this because of the proximity and good placements statistics. Got rejection from IIIT B, my dream college. Couldn't make it because the cutoff shot high that year. Admission process is just submitting your JEE Score and apply through their website. Cutoff is mostly 15k JEE Main Rank for ICT, 10k for CS and 13k for MNC.
Faculty
Faculty to student ratio is 20 -1. Faculties are very approachable. Very friendly with the students. Best faculties include Prof. Kalyan Sasidhar, Prof. Manish Kumar to name a few. Their way of teaching is really nice and easy to understand. 3 exams per semester, and they are moderate to hard difficult. The course curriculum is relevant and most of the industry relevant courses are offered as electives.
