Likes
- There are no irrelevant restrictions for students like dress code or entry/exit in college.
- The faculty for almost every subject is very knowledgeable and helpful.
Dislikes
- There are very less extra curricular activities and no sports facilities for students (except football).
- The semester schedule is very hectic for students as 2 mid-sem exams take place with internal, external practical exams and end semester examination.
- The placement of this college has been degrading with time. For branches like ece and eee, on campus placements are very bad and mostly mass recruiters visit.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum needs an immediate upgrade as it is still the same as it was years back. It does not match the current industry requirements as the time has changed but the curriculum hasn't. The students need to learn many important skills side by side which arr required in the real world as the college syllabus lacks it.
Placement Experience
Students start getting placement offers in 6th/7th semester. Many big companies visit the campus but they only hire the students of cse/it branch and ece/eee students are left with mass recruiters mostly. Average package for on campus placements for ece is 4-5 lpa which is below average. To get good placement, you should apply off campus of you have skills.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees for the first year is ?1,65,000 which includes security fee(refundable) and alumini funds. For the further years, the fee is ?1,53,000. This is the fee structure without any scholarship or reservation. There are not many scholarship programs but there are fee deductions for some categories like Sc/St, kashmir immigrants, ews etc.
Campus Life
There are numerous student societies and clubs in the college like Ecell, IEEE, IIC, E-yantra, Prakriti- NSS etc. Most of them are active and conduct events regularly like seminars, workshops, tevh fest, hackathons, ethnic day etc. The library is vast and has great collection of books. The classroom are very outdated and old-made. There are black boards and chalks in every class with wooden benches which are very uncomfortable. There are no ACs or coolers in classrooms.
Admission
I applied for SRM KTR college in chennai and i was getting cse branch there. But when i got Ece in MSIT, i opt out of SRM because going to other state that too very far is difficult and more expensive for me. Also, the placements at that time were better at MSIT. For admission in MSIT, students need to give the JEE mains examination and clear the cutoff rank of that particular year you are taking admission in.
Faculty
The faculties of this college are helpful and have great knowledge of their subjects. They are easily approachable and provide students with good guidance. However, some lab assistants are kind of rude like for electrical science(first year). There are mamy exams conducted the whole semester like 2 sessionals, internal and external pravticals and an end term examination. This makes the semester hectic for students.
