Course Curriculum Overview
In terms of Examination we have each internal almost every month. Curriculum is good but outdated but MOOCS or Online courses on latest technologies required to be completed to get Btech hons balances that things but at the same time to get degree we have to complete MAR points which forces us to participate in extracurricular to get the degree which can be both negative and positive considering the individual but overall course curriculum is satisfactory but not the examination system as Makaut is infamous for the non-transparent and inconsistent way of paper checking and setting which make it harder to predict about difficulty of examination
Placement Experience
From 7th semester onwards students becomes eligible for placement. Many small IT and core companies do come to hire but considering batch strength the percentage is on quiet lower side also average package is lower than 3lpa and most students who got more than that had been placed off campus. Placements are very bad in this college.
Fees and Financial Aid
Generally the first semester fee which is to be during admission is 55000/- and 49000/- is to be paid every semester onwards including tution and library fees. Swami Vivekananda merit cum means scholarship provided by West Bengal government is available and also BC Roy Scholarship is provided by college from 4th semester on the basis of attendance and marks and which provides 10000/- discount on the semester fees.
Campus Life
We have only one Cultural fest yearly that too on small scale, no tech fest as such. Library is really great and is the only thing I liked about the College wide range of books and magazines are available starting to competative exams like gate to academic ones. There is no club as such but Google Developers Group on Campus was recently launched in our Campus. In terms of sports we have a ground in which we can play cricket or football almost anything and we do also have annual sports day every year.
Admission
The main reason for which I and most of my other classmates took admission here is affordability as one can complete his degree in less than 3.5 lakhs which is quite low compared to other colleges. I had considered taking admission in Swami Vivekananda University because of its distance from my house, although overall course fee is same in both the colleges but admission fee is quite High in SVU for which I choosed IIE over SVU. I also had an valid WBJEE rank and if chossed to sit for counselling would have got many better college with TFW scheme according to this year's cut-offs but had already taken admission and paid admission fee which was not refundable.
Faculty
Faculties are quite good and helpful but none of them holds PhD so very less scope of research especially for students interested. The College is affiliated with Makaut and thus follows their examination system and syllabus, For both Theoretical and Practical Paper we have 4 internal examinations each semester which are CA1, CA2, CA3 and CA4 followed by one external or end sem conducted by university. Combined external and internal we have to score 40 marks out of 100 in order to pass. Just like other Indian Universities course curriculum is somewhat outdated and needed to be restructured but one of the important thing I liked is we have to do online courses on latest technologies of our choice from platforms like SWAYAM, Coursera and Udemy to get Btech Hons degree which somehow balances the outdated curriculum
