Course Curriculum Overview
The schedule of exams are tight.there are 2 internals and a model exam for each semester.But this prepares you for the final exam. There are practical exam as well. This curriculum mainly focuses on the skill development of students and helps to apply theoretical knowledge to the clinical side. You get to witness all kind of procedures and do them at your level. You'll be an expert in procedures as the college makes sure the students are capable of doing the procedure well.
Internships Opportunities
There is an internship period of 6 months with the course as per RGUHS guidelines.this period mainly focuses on Administration and skill development.Each person is assigned 5-7 patients and we're held complete accountability on these patients.
Fees and Financial Aid
The year wise fees vary from each year it ranges between 85000-95000 per year ,this includes the 15000 Hostel fees.For the Mess food you have to pay an extra of 2500 rupees per month. All the other fees such as tution fees, lab fees are included in the annual fees.The fees for all categories are same. There are different scholarship for students in need but for that you should be academically good and should have low income status.
Campus Life
We have a fest called the SNA week, which are basically cultural programmes. Also the medical college organises autumn muse which is a cultural fest in which we take part. We'll be invited to inter College fest of st Francis, Jyothi nivas ,Christ college.Also national level competition for sports and culturals. Library is available in the campus which is open till 8pm.Has good reference books. All classroom has a punching system and projectors . There is a strong volleyball and throw ball team. There is a media team and a choir group Presently no other active clubs
Hostel Facilities
The rooms are four sharing bathroom are not attached.water and electricity is available 24/7. Common charging points are available not in the room. Restriction for phone is there(till 10pm). The rooms are adequately ventilated and has a cupboard, table, chair and bedding for each student. Food is mainly South Indian. non veg on alternative days. Normally has rice 1 curry and 2 side dish. Compared to other hostel highly affordable. Outing is only permitted on sunday till 6.00pm Hostel is located inside the campus.
Admission
For the course I applied only to St John's and CMC Vellore. The admission process in this college includes applying for the KCET which is the admission portal for Karnataka colleges. Based on your marks and a interview you'll be selected. there is no chance of recommendation. The eligibility criteria is you should be 12th pass with bio science. The cutoff based on the recent admissions is above 90%. I was accepted to the college before the entrance exam for CMC Vellore that's why I chose to go here. The college is recognised all over the world and has a large number of abroad graduates who are currently in various countries and in good position.The skill set from the college makes you a pro in nursing field.
Faculty
All the faculties here are Msc graduates and has good clinical experience.Some have completed pHd as well. Most of the teachers are very approachable.Nursing college faculties are mostly women . We also get classes from doctors for subjects like anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, pharmacology, genetics and pathology. Our current principal Ma'am Bindhu is a very inspiring and knowledgeable person who never fails to amuse students with her knowledge especially in field of research. About the exams ,the current structure is a semester system.where you have 2 semester per year and for which you write 2 university exams per year. So a total of 8 semester in four years. The exams are conducted by RGUHS. And question paper are usually are of moderate difficulty.per year 2-3 students fails in this exam.
