Remarks

A meme that I read another day precisely puts my views about college in perspective. " A college is like looking left and right before crossing the street and getting hit by an aeroplane". The positive aspects is brand name of National Law Universities and negative aspects can be overburden course and examination system that promotes mediocrity.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

A five year course with around 50 subjects to pass. Covers wide array of topics and fields of law. The course curriculum is largely doctrine based. Exam pattern is different in most NLUs. In my college one has to appear in 4 continuous assessment ( out of which best of 3 is considered ) , a mid term exam and an end term exam in each subject each semester. With 6 subjects, one has to appear in 36 exams and couple of court room exercise. Quite naturally, examination system in rigorous and sometimes exhausting.

Placement Experience

4

Placements and job opportunities are vast. top legal firms to international and national banks are among major employers. Many students also opt for judicial services and other exams. Armed forces are yet another avenue. Lastly but no less important, students also go to world class Universities for higher studies. No, no internship is provided by university itself. However, a dedicated committee helps students to get one by providing letter of recommendation and basic know how of internships.

College Events

2

Among all law University, our university is specially popular for various events and party culture. Cultural committee celebrates many festivals and days for students who are far away from homes. Janamashtami , holi , Diwali , Baisakhi are all there. Academics committee also holds quizzes and literature events regularly. Sports committee engages in various sports fest like agon. The most loved and celebrated of all events are two inter university events. NH 65 ( cultural fest ) and yuvardha ( sports fest ) . NH 65 is specially popular among all colleges for unmatched entertainment and party culture.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Despite being a government college the fees structure is very expensive. Per semester fees is around 1.5 lakh. On top of that , there is no central mess of university and one has to pay for each meal that costs around 75k per year. The fees are glass barrier for students hailing from poor background. I am a ward of ex-armyman but I have to get loan sanctioned for pursuing studies.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarship is offered to students from backward community and minorities with regard to ones financial capacity. Students of Rajasthan domicile also get other scholarship. Being a reputed college, a student a get loan sanctioned from almost all recognised banks.

Campus Life

3.5

The college has cultural room, badminton court, basketball court, cricket and football field and a decently equipped gymnasium. Due to exhaustive course, it's rare for anyone to avail these facilities regularly but the courts and gym are of decent quality.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The university is fully residential and each student is allotted a hostel room . It is also one of the best feature of our university that each student gets a separate room from first semester. One gets water points , fan , a separate balcony for cooler, a LAN network in hostel. Since university is in Jodhpur , the summers are really harsh and one has to buy a cooler. Each hostel has a caretaker 24*7.

Alumni/Alumna

It won't be an exaggeration to call senior as first teachers. A student gets important guidance and support from seniors. Practical aspects like dealing with examination stress and getting a internship is also dealt with senior. The academic committee also provide a junior with personal mentor. A alumni network is strong and well placed which is great asset of university. The network is specially helpful in getting an internship.

Faculty

2.5

With two professor and other assistant professors and teaching assistants, I'll rate faculty of National Law University, Jodhpur as average. The problem of not highly qualified and experienced faculty is not faced in initial semesters but it becomes a problem in later years. This is the reason of falling status and reputation of the university in recent times.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course as from 10th std I wanted to be like my late grandfather who was a lawyer. More then curriculum, interning in courts would be better from your 1st year. More practical moots and research activities+ educational visits would be more improvising. Exams are moderate on level of difficulty, and exams dates come suddenly... Usually within the 1st in sem> 2 months gap> 2nd in sem and within 20 days finals.

Placement Experience:

This is far most one of the negative aspect of this University. I would never recommend anyone on the basis of campus placements here since it is absolutely worthless. Campus placements are not at all good as the number and quality of companies visiting the college as far as Law dept. is considered, it is very disappointing. There are no good placement drives conducted my the college. The package offered is extremely low even of offered rarely. The percentage of students getting placed is also low. I personally was also not able to get placed by the University. My plans are to gain some work experience in the legal sector and peruse higher education in law from abroad.

Remarks:

It's good Most people have to sit down and decide whether college is worth wilde for them. Attending college can have many positive and negative effects. A few negative effects are debt, partying, sexual assault, missing family and friends, and stress. Positive effects are he/she gets a degree, makes new friends, becomes more diverse, most likely gets a good job after graduating, and helps he/she to become more independant and grow as an individual. Starting off with the negative effects of attending college. Tuition has skyrocketed over the years leaving college students thousands of dollars in debt right out of highschool, since many people cannot afford to fully pay their schooling off.
