Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is designed in a way that allows it to be updated frequently to reflect all the latest developments in media. It truly helps us to be ready for the real world because it is more on the practical side. Numerous facets of journalism and public communication are included in the curriculum, including sociology, audiovisual production, radio, and cinema appreciation. These disciplines are also taught using incredibly inventive and imaginative techniques. Every semester, there are two internal exams in addition to the main one.
Fees and Financial Aid
The first year's fees for BAMCJ were around 37,000 in 2022; the second year's costs were 35,571; and the final year's fees were 52000. This year the rates of all the courses have increased this year(2024) and now the first year fees for BAMCJ is 72000, for the second year it is about 50k-60k and for third year it is 52000. A admission exam was held in multiple cities for the BAMCJ, BMS, and BSCIT courses. Approximately 500 was the registration fee for the application process.
Campus Life
In general, I didn't have a very positive experience. Colleges in Mumbai do not have much of a campus life and all the fests were also quite commercial. The most well-known festivals include Zephyrus, Zeitgeist, MVM, Malhar, and so on. In terms of scholarly books and periodicals available, the library is doing fairly well. The technical resources at hand are also really good.
Admission
I had applied in colleges accross different cities like, St Theresa (Ernakulam), Sacred heart college (kochi), Christ (Bangalore), etc. I chose St. Xavier's College as that was my first preference and i always wanted to explore Mumbai and also Xavier's had such a good name which made it more easier to choose it from the rest. And the BAMCJ faculty has a good name that made my decision to join Xavier’s
Faculty
I have extremely wonderful instructors in my BAMCJ course. It was leaded by late Perriyanayagi Subramanian who created this course and the full department in such a way that it still exists strong. The department continues to function incredibly well even after her passing; experts from many fields are assigned to instruct the department's students. Rather than emphasizing theory, BAMCJ is more of a practical course that involves projects and real-world application work. Since the course itself is media-related and is constantly being updated, the curriculum is constantly evolving to reflect the state of the globe. Due to the tests' greater practical focus, the majority of students typically pass them all.
