Likes
- The freedom, maybe it’s just the transition from a school that made me like the freedom i had in my college. However i would say Siliguri College of Commerce is quite lenient and it feels good to have such freedom.
- The teachers are quite helpful , atleast the ones that i took classes of were very helpful and observant so whenever i felt like i didn’t understand a certain topic, they would gladly repeat it for me.
- Since the classes are at evenings, the weather is quite pleasant.
Dislikes
- As i mentioned the classes being at evening not only comes with pros but also has its cons like having to return home late at night.
- The infrastructure aren’t quite pleasant. The classes are very old and rusty.
- The students can be quite arrogant. Not everyone but still some are quite arrogant and rude
Course Curriculum Overview
the curriculum present are quite basic as you would see in a BCom degree classes. The curriculum prepares quite well for real world application or further academic procedure. Personally, I think on the curriculum would be very helpful for further academic pursuit take. The frequency of the exams are every six months. I guess the difficulty is in the mid range.
Fees and Financial Aid
There are admission fees to be paid every semester that's around 2000-2500 for my perticular course and an exam fee around 1000 which needs to be paid before our semester examination. I also availed the Kanyashree Scholarship which gave me 25k.
Campus Life
every year, Our college host an event called socials that is purely meant for socialisation of the students with other student in the facility. You are also allowed to perform. and showcase your talent if you want to. they they also take students for inter-college sports/extra curricular activities including volleyball, badminton, football, et cetera
Admission
I applied to Saint Joseph College of Darjeeling, Reva University of Bangalore and Amity University of Noida I got accepted from all the colleges I applied to, including siliguri College of commerce, of course. I chose Siliguri College of commerce because of the convenience. the admission process consisted of filling of the form in the college website itself, and then if you get accepted, then you have to go to the college for document verification.
Faculty
The faculty-to-student ratio would be 1:3 which i honestly don't mind a lot since the faculties are quite approachable. Every semester exam are mid in the range of difficulty and so are the internals that take place before the semester exam.
