Life at Sngist

Remarks :

The college sometimes feels like all work no play kind of mood. But other than that it's always great there. The faculty is good and student-faculty rapport is genuine and good. Everybody will feel better there. College is not only for the studies and the campus environment is approximately on par with that notion.

Entrance Exam, Merit List

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is basically set according to Mahatma Gandhi University Kottayam and the one I had studied was revised in 2010. But it wasn't without its flaws. It was kind of outdated and static. But now KTU is here and it's a charm.

Internships Opportunities :

My college didnot provide internship as far I know from my time over there. So I can't have a say in that matter. But to my knowledge, it may not provide internships to anyone. I don't think any colleges in our place provided internships.

Placement Experience :

The college itself had only been operational for 5 years when I joined. but over the course, more and more companies and organizations have shown interest in taking in students and there has been a huge effort from the management towards conducting placement drives.

College Events :

Every year or so, the students can have a cultural fest which is partly sponsored by the management and it also has included technical innovations exhibition and other things. There are also sports and friendly matches with other colleges.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Fee is always a big issue. if you don't belong to minority or economically backward community the chances are slim that you would get a fee reduction. So if you don't have a fee reduction, it is going to feel a bit expensive.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

There's a minority based fee reduction other than that there are no fee-related exclusions. But most of the time students arrange loans from private or centralized banks and other financial aids. The minority based reduction is the scholarship that is provided by the college.

Campus Life :

The college has a good amount of acreage so there are a cricket and football ground. A couple of volleyball court. A basketball court. And badminton court. the labs and study related structures are placed close to the campus. The college each year does a sports contest for the students.

Hostel Facilities :

Top grade. The hostel and other facilities are in the campus compound and have good infrastructure and amenities. There separate hostels for girls and boys. A common mess hall and outdoor gym and appreciable ground and sports spaces

Alumni/Alumna :

There was an alumni meeting in the past years. And almost all of the seniors try to be a part of it. Since the college is relatively young there hasn't been a significant amount of students that had passed out. But all of them are very supportive.

Exam Structure :

The while exam structure is designed by Mahatma Gandhi University Kottayam and the affiliated colleges have to follow the norms and regulations of the university. Hence the exam structure was like 8-semester exams along with internals inside each semester.

Admission :

I wrote the KEAM. Had a pretty good score and had to choose a few lists of colleges that you wanted to go to. So in respect to my liking, I put up a list and one among was this college and in the allotment, I got in.

Faculty :

Pleasant enough. Faculty was always supportive and helpful. Maybe that it be in regard to the study or any other matter. There were several departments but from my perspective, the faculty in the collective was actually great.

Actually placement cell is a bit week the company's is not that reputed and they offer monthly salary of 12k to 15k. Probably some startup companies. And many students choose that and work for 1 or 2 years to gain experience and then they apply for better opportunities.

From the 3rd year onwards we could attend placement interviews and many companies used to approach our college but mostly IT companies as I was in civil dept the construction companies were very less or NIL. In our batch, most of the students got placed and many offer letters but the only disadvantage was the offers were not from the core companies.
