Course Curriculum Overview

4

One may choose the course of MBBS for various reasons, my being having a successful professional life which interests me. The perks of being a doctor are many , the primary being the ability to help the society at many levels with a good income and social status. Through MBBS one definitely learns a lot which prepares an individual for the harsh World we live in. Each viva, each scolding, each taunt and each exam surely feel bad at the moment but if the person is willing to rebuild on them they surely develop ones character. Coming to the academic part MBBS includes19 subjects. One can pursue any of the subjects in the future which requires you to qualify neet pg which would soon be replaced by NEXT exam. A thorough knowledge of the subjects is required to qualify the exam. It's known well that medical field is constantly evolved at a very rapid rate. However i personally feel that this college has lagged behind in catching up to it. Currently there is a need for better infrastructure.

Fees and Financial Aid

Newly admitted students must pay their fees in full within the prescribed period, which will be notified by the College office. No student's name will be enlisted in attendance register unless, he/she has paid the prescribed fees. The seat of the student, who does not pay the fees within the prescribed period, shall be declared vacant and filled by admitting another candidate on the waiting list. Fee structure - 1st year Mbbs- 40000 ( tuition fees) 4000 ( admission fees) 4000 Student fund 3000 Medical Fund 6000 Security (refundable) 3000 Dilapidated Fund. Total 60,000 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th year 40,000 tution fees 4000 student fund 3000 medical fund 6000 dilapidated fund Total 50,000 No scholarships are available

Campus Life

2

The new college campus is still not ready for students to be shifted there. The old campus includes a hospital with all the departments functioning well. But classes are taken in an old palace of Chamba. The darbar halls are converted to lecture theatres for the time being. Summarizing there's no campus yet, for a campus life. Co curricular activities do take place every now and then including sports tournaments. There are no clubs for enthusiastic people like myself. Fests used to take place every year during July - August but certain guidelines by NMC might not allow such activities in the future. We do have a functional Library that issues almost all the medical books of a wide range of subjects by different authors. Journals on the other hand are few.. Classes are well equipped with smart boards and audio system. However students are not allowed tablets or laptops in many classes.

Admission

For securing a seat in Mbbs one must quality neet. A good score would be 650+ considering the modern trends. A person can apply to college through state councelling for state quota seats or through all India councelling for all India quota seats and central govt. institutes. A merit and rank list is released corresponding marks an individual has scored. You can select between various colleges but one may only get the college which corresponds with their marks. Himachal has many better colleges like Rpgmc Tanda and Igmc Shimla. I personally wanted to join Rpgmc which was better in almost all the aspects including infrastructure, faculty, connectivity and what not. As mentioned earlier one may only secure a college corresponding to their rank and marks so there were only 3 options available for me to join,of which i preferred chamba. Not getting Rpgmc Tanda was due to me falling short by 25 marks for the colleges cutoff. Cutoff vary every year so look for rank under 200 (Hp quota)

Faculty

3.5

Faculty to students ratio may vary for different departments. For instance there were 7-8 faculty members for Anatomy while only 4 for Physiology. Same goes for other departments in different years as well. Anatomy department was the best so far eoth great learning environment which was friendly and encouraging. Any student admitted will surely love the fun and informative lectures by Dr. Harish Chaturvedi and Dr. Daisy in the department of anatomy. Although some departments and faculty members may not be the kind one seeks for imbibing knowledge and students must put in some extra efforts. For the examination part we have 4 exams each academic year and regular tests for each subject at different intervals. The main exams include term 1 , term 2, term 3 ( pre proffs ) and then final university examination for the professional year. The exams are moderate to difficult level but a student who has covered the syllabus and has good attemptation will definitely pass, which most students do.

MBBS is some course I don't think I've to define, it's low-key a noble profession and worth the hardwork you'll be doing throughout past few years of NEET-ug preparation and 4.5 years of MBBS. And superiority complex among yo relatives, hahaha????

Course Curriculum Overview:

Mbbs in itself is vast curriculum but it's interesting at the same time. We get to learn more about our body in first year through anatomy physiology and biochemistry. From second year onwards the preclinical subjects are more interesting one also the clinical postings make the cause much fun u got to see many patients and apply the bookish knowledge on the patients. Exams in mbbs are held from time to time which keep us going through the course very easily.
