- The campus is absolutely gorgeous, lots of greenery, the trees and flowers are maintained well. There are many food outlets and the mess food is top quality. Hostels all have volleyball courts, TT tables and TVs to watch sports with your friends.
- Academic freedom. We have a zero percent attendance policy here at BITS, this allows students to pursue their passions without being restricted by the college. This has fostered a entrepreneurial culture. Lecturers are very good and give guidance
- You won't find these placements anywhere else except top 3 IITS. Our average package is 18 lpa. If you get a circuital brance it's close to 22 lpa and CS is 28 lpa. The placement unit is run by students so it's very easy to reach out to them for help
Dislikes
- Since our campus is so huge. It takes a while to go from hostels to academic block then to mess or to a food outlet. There are no public transportation methods like a bus so this could be worked on.
Course Curriculum Overview
I'm majoring in electronics and minoring in computer science. I'm more interested in the IT domain so I'm doing relevant CS courses like DSA, OOPS, DBMS, AI, ML etc. The electronics courses are very hectic and difficult. You have to put in more time and effort than your other batchmates. However this does give you an upper hand over other college electronics students.
Internships Opportunities
Plenty of companies come to us for an exclusive recruiting campaign. So far the big names are Google, Microsoft, Oracle, Uber, DE Shaw, JP Morgan, Providence, Goldman Sachs, VISA, Texas Instruments, CISCO, Nvidea, Arcesium, and more companies are yet to come.
Placement Experience
Placements are incredible here. We have a unique program called Practice School, PS1 after your second year and PS2 during your fourth year. It is a mandated internship that the college provides to you based on your CGPA. PS1 is not very technical as we're just second years but big companies like Amazon, Google, Uber, Goldman Sachs, and JPMC come and take plenty of students with great stipends. We're one of the few colleges that Apple recruits from and every big company comes here. The highest is 70 lpa, the average is 18 lpa, and apart from the recession year almost every student gets placed.
Fees and Financial Aid
The base fee per semester is 3.04 lakhs. This will increase by 1 percent every year. The tuition fee is 2.55 lakhs, the hostel fee is 27k, mess fee is 12k which is great considering the quality of the food. Most of the other fees are negligible. You don't get scholarships based on your caste or category but on your annual income. If your annual income is less than 12lpa, you'll get a 50% scholarship and based on your academic performance it can go up to 90%. The name of this program is MCN(merit cum need). There are also loans offered by SBI in partnership with BITS Pilani at lower interest rates. The college does a lot to help students in need of financial help. Since it's a private college and full accommodation the fees are high.
Campus Life
Almost every club and organisation are run by students. Our CS club have created countless apps that help us create timetables, order food, apply for outstations etc. From technical groups to cultural groups everything exists. We have 2 main fests, ATMOS(technical) and Pearl(cultural) that happen every year.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are amazing. Until the end of the second year, it's double accommodation but the rooms are big enough. Plenty of cabinets, desks, chairs, ceiling fans, and an Almirah are offered. The meals here are top quality and the best you'll find in Telangana. They change the menu regularly and it's very hygienic. We have 2 messes and at the end of every month there is a registration process for the next month.
Admission
I had newer IITs' electrical branches and older IITs' bad branches like manufacturing or biotechnology. Considering the proximity of BITS Hyderabad and its incredible placements I chose this college. I got IIT Bhubaneshwar Bio-technology but rejected it and chose EEE at BITS. You have to have 75% or more in your 12th boards or else you're not eligible. There is only one exam and that is BITSAT(unless you have a passport from another country). There are no reservations and the cutoffs are extremely competitive.
Faculty
It's hard to give a very accurate number for the faculty-student ratio. Since we can make our timetables and take the courses we want it's not a specific number but at the max you'll find 200 students in the classroom and due to zero percent attendance that number will reach 20-30 after a month:). Our finance department is widely regarded as the best in Telangana, so if you're up for a finance minor you can do so. Some professors are not great at teaching but excel in their research domain. Here at BITS we have relative grading, everyone is smart so it's difficult to get a high CG. Papers are tough and not standard at all. Companies know this, a 7 CG here is equivalent to 8.5 CG at VIT.
