Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

I was always interested in Psychology which is why I opted for this course. Social psychology was especially very interesting to me. The curriculum is good when it comes to future prospects of giving competitive exams. However, it doesn't prepare you a lot for real-life applications as much. The course can definitely include more practical experiments which would make the subject more interesting. Better assignments/projects would also be beneficial. The exams were twice in a year. They weren't very difficult and easy to clear if one studied the portion well. However, I do feel that the exam pattern could be more application-based.

Fees and Financial Aid

1st Year (2021-2022): Rs. 4000 (inclusive of all charges) 2nd Year (2022-2023): Rs 6000 (inclusive of all charges) 3rd Year (2023-2024): Rs. 25000 (inclusive of admission fees, lab fees, convocation fees, other maintainence fees) The registration fees for each year was 100rs.

Campus Life

2.5

- Olé and Hope are the major fests in Wilson. Olé is held anywhere between Dec-March whereas Hope is held somewhere between Aug-Sept. - There are many books accessible in the library but the process is not convenient at all. We have to write the names of the book on a slip and then the librarian will pick it out for us the next day. There is no system of directly going and picking a book to read. - Most classrooms do not have any technical provisions - Sports are given good recognition in the college especially football and boxing. Students often compete in inter-college football and boxing competitions throughout the year. The college also organises a lot of extra curricular activities like essay writing competitions, elocution, art competitions, etc. - there are very few student-run social groups in the college and it has little to no impact on student life.

Admission

- I had confirmed admission from St. Xavier's and Sophia's. I applied to Xavier's and Sophia's because of how renowned they were for their course and extra curricular activities - I did not go to Xavier's as I didn't get my preferred subjects. I didn't opt for Sophia's because I thought Wilson would be better. however, I came to regret my decision soon after. - the admission is pretty simple for undergraduate courses. They consider your 12th grade marks and seats are alloted based on merit. There is also a Christian quota with a relatively lower cutoff than general. The gernal cutoff in Wilson is usually 90-95% for the first merit list. Whereas the first merit list cutoff for Christian quota is 80-85%.

We had 1 professor in Psychology for the first and second year with a class of approx 130 students. Her name was Prof. Rashna. I did not like her style of teaching at all because she would just come to class and read her notes. She didn't put any more effort to make the subject interesting. In the third year, we had 5 professors in a class on 70 students of psychology. I really liked Prof. Jeffrin Stephen as she made cognitive psychology very very interesting. It was a pleasure to be in her class. She was always very approachable and solved all her students' doubts. She has also resigned from her position this year. We had 2 exams in the whole year. The course material was somewhat relevant but could've been better. Most students passed in the exams with the exception of 7-8 who did not.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is neither difficult nor easy. It is a good curriculum for even an average student. The teacher mostly used the traditional teaching method. It needs to be improved. The exam's difficulty level is not so high again good for average students

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculam is designed for all round development of the student and to make that person an expert in that field, these aspects influeneced me to choose it. Very well, with extra paper of real world application on each subject it ensures that we take something from the course and become industry ready The teachings methods and cirriculam are excellent I don't think any changes are required Exams are all year round, every month and are extremly difficult to deal with, as Xavier's bar is very high.
