Course Curriculum Overview

4

Biochemistry was something i always wanted to do since the day i remember. The curriculum hasn't made me regret my decision as of yet.As biochemistry doesn't just include biology and chemistry it consists of studying biotechnology, clinical research, microbiology, botany, toxicology so that if want to we could any of these too for our masters degree. The curriculum manages this shuffle very effortlessly and the teachers keep in mind to not skip the basics as the students with a weak or other lack of background knowledge don't face much difficulties. The only thing I don't in this curriculum is not having the option for choosing your side subjects as this is done in other colleges and University.Everyone has to the study the fixed side subjects every semester

Fees and Financial Aid

For the first semester for bachelor in biochemistry i paid a total fees of 73000 rupees which is breakdowned as 5000 admission fees and 5000 enrollment fees which are both one time payments and library deposit of 5000 which is refundable, alumni fund of 3000 which is also one time payment, examination fee of rupees 5000 which is submitted per semester and e governance fees of 500 also submitted per semester and lastly 50000 of the main course fees. All this add upto to 73000 rupees. For the 2nd semester i paid the total fees of 55000 ruppees which includes 50000 course fees and 5000 per semester examination fees

Campus Life

4.5

Campus is the best part about Jamia hamdard University according to me.The peaceful and green and safe environment is the best part this experience. The canteens the most value for the money kind of things. It is quite big considering the fact that private universities doesn't generally provide this big of an infrastructure with most of the necessary facilities.Although the societies and other curricular activities are something that needed to be worked on

Hostel Facilities

1.5

Hostel are the worst and most unsatisfactory part of my university. The comfort and facilities and food are not according to the fees. The registration process for hostel starts after the course fee payment as the fee receipt is required for that. You can fill the hostel form from the main website. The form provides with the preference of choosing the hostel according to your needs and budget. There are double seater, triple seater, dormitory types of both ac and non ac hostels available.Special seats for nri students in few hostels which are the most unhygienic ones unfortunately

Admission

The main reason for choosing this college was that i was only able to get my desired course.Other reason is that hamdard is very known for it's medical courses and science related programes. It is India 1st ranked pharmacy University.I also applied to Aligarh Muslim University which only has 35 seats for biochemistry and I wasn't able to clear the entrance for that.I also applied for Delhi University which also has very limited seats for medical courses

Faculty

3

The faculty in my department is very invested in their students and very helpful. To be honest it feels like they are more concerned about our future than we ourselves are.We are allowed to seek whenever we want during the college hours and not just during the lectures. Most of the teachers are friendly and always ready to help.Their are two semesters per year. The examination paper is generally made by an external teacher from another college so the degree of question paper varies according to that. They are generally fairly difficult but nothing too out of the syllabus or nothing more than the reaching capacity of the students.Although we all try our best but some students could get a backlog or supply which is taken before backlog. The number of backlog students is generally in my course is 4-5 from a batch of 23 students

Students become eligible for campus placements around 5th to 6th semester. Highest package of 2024 was 25LPA. Usually 8CGPA is considered a sweet spot for campus placements plus it gets them easier to get into world class universities for post graduation.

Reviewed on Mar 3, 2026(Enrolled 2024)

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course Biomedical Sciences is very interesting as well as challenging, it covers various fields of sciences and has great scope in terms of research. The course connects theory with real world applications in hospitals and research laboratories. A few examples would include, antibacterial testing, PFT, EMG, blood tests, which are commonly performed in hospitals. The course also helps us to pursue our hands in research further by providing us with hands on training for skills such as biostatistics, writing scientific literature, lab skills, etc. A few improvements that I would suggest is the removal of outdated testing methods and practicals from the curriculum that are not essential for the real world currently. The teaching methods are quite good and interesting. The exams are conducted at the end of each semester and are relevant to the curriculum. The practical exams test your knowledge of hands on experience that you've gained while doing lab work. Theory exams are of 3 hours as per usual and test your theoretical knowledge from books and classes mainly.
