Likes

freedom to do anything like extra cultural activities
there are holidays for celebrations like onam,christmas
there is a good campus and the library got pretty good books

Dislikes

exams for 50 mark are 1.5 hr that is not enough to finish all questions
less girls and more boys the ratio should be equal
classes are pacey and exam are more difficult for most students

Course Curriculum Overview

I want to know more about technology so I choose this. It has given me confidence and more information for the future. The curriculum can be improved by adding new topics and should add physical education. 1.5 hrs for an internal exam is difficult and hard.

Fees and Financial Aid

I got a management seat in a private college so I have to pay 1.4L as fees yearly. Fees are constant. There are scholarships for government-seat students. They pay 90k per year. The payment is done by paying half fees per semester.

Campus Life

I choose this college because of campus life. we occasionally conduct a tech-related fest every 3 months. The main fest is done in February or November. The library got all the books needed for the course and some leisure books are there. technical provisions are there is a bench and desk and projector and like normal classrooms. sports is very good there is sports day. The group advisors encourage sports and extracurricular activities as my college has some actors as allumini. There are societies like IEEE, ASME like that and there is student portal for payment of fees and checking marks

Admission

I like the placement ratio and the campus of my college.it is easy to study here with the mentality of a topper. I applied for Muthoot a private enginnering college in Kerala. I got rejected because I had low marks. I got the seat in my college FISAT because I applied for a management seat and got selected. other ways is NRI seats and government seats. government seat needs at least 7k rank in KEAM exams

Faculty

The faculty is pretty good. They help us more than teachers. i like the lab staff they help if there is a problem with our lab codes and experiments. there are only 200 faculty in my college with 10k students. I dont like the mech faculty they are a little not friendly. 4-year course 8 semesters. 2 series of internal exams and final exams each semester. marking for internals is done by teachers while university or final exams are done by external teachers

Placement Experience:

we are eligible for placement from the 7th sem. Many famous and small compines vist our college. Infosys, WIPRO, TCS vist our college. But the big companies take only few student. Highest package was 1,00,000. And the average package is around 4,00,000. Almost all students gets placed from the campus .

My Experience at NIT Calicut

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the EEE course curriculum around 8-8.5 /10 in terms of relevance.The curriculum provides strong fundamentals in core electrical engineering subjects and prepares students well for core jobs and higher studies.The course curriculum was revised in 2023, and our batch is the 1st batch under the new curriculum. however, there are still limited coding ,AI and data science subjects in EEE ,which could be improved. Exams are conducted times per semester and are generally moderately difficult.

Placement Experience:

The placements here are quite good, but not great. Because only 50% of students in a class are getting placed. From S7 onwards the placements have been started for our department. But for other departments, from S8 only companies have arrived. For CSE department, many companies are coming which include Cognizant, SOTI, Mitsogo, EY, 6D Technologies, etc. Our senior batch students have placed at many companies in this. But comparing with other senior batches, the placements at our batch is really bad.

Is engineering here worth it?

There was cut off for the admisiion process i think the cut off was around 45000 in the keam rank. Based on the rank you will get a seat in the merit. There are several scholarship for the students who all are financially not stable...Read More
