Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The present curriculum has a lot of room for improvement. There are relevant subjects being taught to us that'll help us greatly in the real world companies but there are many irrelevant subjects as well. There are subjects like Social Connectivity & Responsibility (SCR) which isn't taken seriously and made us do activities unrelated to the course like planting a sapling, or going to a food Street and taking pictures there etc, there are subjects like Biology as well which have no connection whatsoever to our course and doesn't help us in any way to apply for real world instances. Like I said before, during internals 2 subjects are conducted per day which is too much for the students. Gaps could be given in between exams and more subjects can be introduced that are relevant to our course.

Placement Experience

2.5

The placements currently, in my college and as per my knowledge other tech colleges are not that great. In my college we receive placement training from 5th semester and are eligible for interviews from the 6th semester since we're under the VTU board, its compulsory for the students to have an internship in the 7th or 8th semester. Some of the companies that have visited our campus are Nokia, LG, Bosch, HashedIn, Adobe, Maersk etc. As of last year in my department (Information Science), there were 305 job offers and 140 internship offers. The average salary per year was 3-4 Lakhs and highest was 14.86 LPA.In the current batch of students there are very less placements as the market is not so good at a very rough estimate I can say that 10% have only been placed till now.

Fees and Financial Aid

I've taken management seat and haven't applied for any financial aid or scholarships. My fees for Information Science course(ISE) is 5.5 Lakhs per year. My friends who gave gotten in through KCET exam pay 1 Lakh every year as fees.

Campus Life

4.5

The overall campus life here is above average. There are several clubs here for people with different interests. CAT (Cultural Activity Club) for conducting college festivals and Karnataka Rajyotsava. RSC(RNS Sports Club) for conducting various sports games and inter department sports competitions as well as Marathons every year that is open for everyone including outsiders. Dhwani which is the singing club holds evening concerts every month, Aura the fashion club, Synapse and Natarang which are the hip hop and classical dance clubs respectively. There are many clubs started by students themselves as well like MUN club. Most of the fests in Bengaluru colleges are held in even semesters which are in months from October, Nov,Dec. There anre many hackathons organized as well as blood donation camps. The library was recently renovated and has been made bigger, the books are easily accessible but less in number so not available all the time. Each class has a projector+ each dep have 2-3 labs

Hostel Facilities

2

I stayed in hostel for an year before moving out. The room has one fan and three cots along with a cupboard for each person. 4 people are made to stay in a room which makes it pretty cramped. Theres an attached bathroom but it doesn't have hot water. If u want to take a bath you need to use the common bathrooms of the floor which gets really crowded in the morning. They don't offer laundry service from the hostel, the campus has a separate laundry person who you have to pay extra money per kg to get your clothes washed. The food is basic and decent. They provide with Breakfast lunch & dinner and only tea/milk/coffee in the evening. The menu is different everyday but repeats the next week. The warden & management are lousy and don't listen to complaints if any and try to cover the situation without doing any work. The fees when I was there was 1.5L but it's increased to 1.45L per year which is not at all worth it. The PGs in the area are much better in terms of cost & living.

Admission

I didn't score that well in my entrance exam and got this college through management seat. I chose this college because compared to others it has a good infrastructure and the campus life is good. There are rules here but not so strict that makes a student hate the college. Placements also are good(not the best but still manageable) and importantly it was in our budget. The hostel is present inside the campus so there's no issue of travelling from the hostel to the campus in the morning or evening. Its in a quite developed area so there are many amenities present nearby including grocery stores, pharmacies and hospitals all in walking distance. The admission process seemed quite ok since mine was through Management and it got done in a day without us having to come back again and again. The exams accepted for my course are JEE,KCET,COMEDK the most popular one that students get in here is KCET followed by COMEDK.

Faculty

3

We have 3 internal exam one for each month and in the 4th month we have our externals. In the middle we have 2 lab internals and a final lab external before the theory external. During internal exams we have 2 subjects' exams per day one in the morning and one in the afternoon. There is not a single day's gap between the exams which makes it feel rushed and not be able to perform equally in every subject. Many of The faculty members from my experience are nice in class but not so nice when you have extra doubts & you go to the staffroom. There are a few teachers like Hema ma'am, Aishwarya ma'am who explain willingly outside class but teachers like Janardhan sir are rude outside class and seem offended to clear doubts.

Placement Experience:

Placements at RNS Institute of Technology are good. Students become eligible for campus placements from the 6th or 7th semester. Many companies visit the college, including IT and core companies. Some of the common recruiters include TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, and a few core companies for EEE. The average package is around 3 to 5 LPA, and higher packages are also offered for top-performing students. The highest package can go much higher depending on the company. Around 70–80% of students get placed, mainly in IT roles. For EEE students, core placements are limited, but there are good opportunities in software roles. The college also provides training and support for placements. After completing my degree, I plan to get placed in a good company and build my career.

Most of the students get placed from the campus placements. Students get eligible for campus placements from the fifth semester. Companies like HP, Infosys, Wipro come for recruiting and make offers from 3L per annum to 30 L per annum. Around 70 percent of the students get placed through campus placement. I plan on working for a dream company after completing my degree.

Placement Experience:

I applied to colleges like BMSIT and Sir MVIT, and I had confirmed seats there, too. I chose RNSIT because it has a better reputation for placements in my branch and the campus environment felt more welcoming. I didn't get into RVCE because my KCET rank wasn't high enough for their top branches, as the competition was very tough that year. The admission process is simple. They mainly take students through KCET and COMEDK. You need at least 45% in your 12th boards (PCM). Most students prefer KCET because the fees are lower. Once the seat is allotted through counseling, you just visit the campus, submit your documents, and pay the fees. The whole process was quite smooth and well-organized."

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is very unique, and very new, we are not taught irrelevant subjects and topics like every university does, Polaris school of technology (PST) is a new gen college which mainly focuses on tech, producing the best engineers not amongst india but amongst the world, it's aim is to produce engineers who are better than IITians and MITians, all these specifications influenced me to choose this course/curriculum When it comes to real-world applications, Polaris school of technology(PST) gives us real-life problems and scenario based projects through evaluations which help us in the future and helps us to build a proper approach for problems and train us to be the best. We have two main exams per sem which would be conducted every 3 months that is ½th of the sem, we have a total of 8 sems, so total 16 exams, our exams would be difficult for other college students, but not for us as we have the best mentors.
