Likes
- The aspects of my college, which I really liked were the good infrastructure. There is a really big field wherein a lot of games can be played easily. Apart from that, the classrooms are spacious, as well as there is a good computer lab.
- The college faculty is very experienced and well learned and they teach in a very interactive manner. They are all passed out of really prestigious universities and have multiple degrees.
- The college has a lot of greenery with a botanical garden as well. For the bio, students are 2 outlets of Nescafe and the canteen serves great food. The computer lab is well equipped with the best technology.
Dislikes
- The infrastructure is not very well maintained. And that is why some problems arise. The wall paint are falling off and flaking in some rooms and the windows etc. are very dirty. Some rooms are very unkempt sometimes.
- The administration is a tad dysfunctional and the societies are not very enthusiastic. There is a dearth of plethora of diverse societies and there is also redundancy in some societies.
- There is a lack of meeting halls that which is why people have to conduct society meetings in classrooms. The procedure of getting permission for the same is also very hectic and cumbersome.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is extremely relevant and comprehensive. Me being a political science student have learned a lot about the subject and all dimensions of the same very nicely and would recommend to everyone else. The reading list is also very vast and interested students can gain a lot through proper following of the same. Some areas of improvement could be addition of both spheres of the debate and addition of a larger number of authors. Overall it is very hollistic and to the point leading to a creation of a good knowledge base
Fees and Financial Aid
Overall fees amounts to around 23k. It is a tad higher as compared to the average DU fees as our college is fully air conditioned. The exact fee is nearly Rs. 23,800 and involves all the different aspects of the course including the tuition fees, the admission fees ( which is a one time payment) , development fees, lab fees and all other charges. The fees is the same for all as ours is a sikh minority college (SGTB Khalsa College) and there are no further reservations for any categories. Every other admission is seen on the babsis of "general" category which implies the same fees for all the students. It varies course-wise though. Financial aid is available for EWS students which can be availed after sitting in an interview for the same. The interview process is not very rigorous and generally benevolent. All the students who are in need are given help in this manner. The fees is justified as the amenities are totally upto the mark.
Campus Life
The overall campus life was extremeley fun and I was able to generate a really fun social circle and make really cool friends. Even one of my teachers were so friendly to me , we used to go for CHAI OUTINGS with our gang. It was a good overall experience and I even participated in a plethora of college societies, like POLIS, the political science department, and NARISHTHA, the public policy cell.
Admission
I got my college admission through the CUET exam and that is how I ended up in the SGTB khalsa College in the North Campus, Delhi University. The system of allocation depends upon the preference list made by the students and it is allocated on the basis of merit. I managed to score 770 out of 800 and thus was able to get Khalsa which was at my number five of my preference list. the reason I could not make it to Hindu College is due to lack of marks (~ 798 were needed)
Faculty
The faculty is well learned and they teach pretty nicely. the exam is conducted in a very disciplined and fair manner. 2 major exams are held every year, one for each semester. Some of the faculty, which I didn't like was because their classes were not interact and syllabus completion did not happen. Some teachers are very non serious about the timetable and show up really late to the classes. Some teachers also dont teach comprehensively and give answers to predictable questions
