Course Curriculum Overview
Victoria College offers a B.sc psychology which very less, countable government colleges offer. This is the main reason to select this college. The curriculum provides practical examinations which is really useful for job opportunities. Improvements can be done in the textbook to make it more approachable for students. Difficulty level is moderate and an average student can score really well within a week of exam preparation.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition fees vary every semester. It is around 2000 every semester. The registration fee is around 500 and admission fees depend upon the category and for OBC(H) it is 10 rupees along with PTA Fund which also varies. The fee structure for B.Com, B.Sc, and BA is similar and around 2000 rupees. Scholarships are granted on the basis of caste and merit. There is an E-grantz for OBC, SC, and ST students which will be credited to your account on a yearly order.
Campus Life
The annual activities of colleges include A-zome and Interzone arts competitions, Onam, Christmas celebrations, 4 freshers parties including the college union and other political parties, elections, ethnic days, food fest, and game days. For sports, the campus offers training for a variety of them. Annual sports meet is present. The campus offers a variety of clubs such as music, dance, and movie clubs. NSS and NCC are also present.
Hostel Facilities
Female Hostel is allotted to maximum of 50-60 students per year. Each room accommodates 4-5 people and has got 3-4 study tables. There is a common mess hall and terrace for students. Meal quality is not very impressive but tolerable. The registration process includes registration inside the hostel office when you come to take college admission and they will get back to you with their status. Each student will have to pay around 2000,water,food and electricity included, per month.
Admission
Other colleges I applied for were MG college and Mar Dionisys. I opted for Victoria over them because it offers a better course and is also known for its artistic support. As an artist myself I find Victoria to be very welcoming. Students have total control over the programs of the college. The arts and Kalolsavam are one of the most popular things in Victoria. Victoria College has been the continuous winner of Calicut University for the past 3 years. The admission process is easy. When the allotment is published and you get into the college, a date is allotted for you to go take the admission. Students/volunteers are present to help you out with every step. The eligibility is 12th grade to apply. Cutoffs change with every allotment.
Faculty
There are around 150 Professors to 2000 students including all departments. The facilities are approachable and nice. The most liked faculty is B.Com due to their strength in students and their relationship with the faculty. The least liked faculty is psychology as they lack major infrastructure. Professors are guest lecturers and keep on changing every year making it hard for students to have a proper relationship with the faculty Per year you have two semester exams and most students clear all subjects. Exams can be in a moderate level except for certain times when it goes a little hard. The course curriculum is what helps a student prepare for exams and 95% of the time all questions come from within the curriculum.
