Course Curriculum Overview

3

They offered a course named BTech Computer Science and Engineering - Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, which was very rare at the time of my admission. It covers the basics of computer science and covers a lot more from the specialisation of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. This aspect of the course influenced me to join this college. The curriculum includes a lot of real world scenarios and related programming. Since we have a term system, an exam commences every 7 to 8 weeks. And we have 5 such term exams a year. This increases the total number of papers a year to 22-24.

Placement Experience

3

At the times of induction we were given a letter of intent which said that every single student will be placed at a company following graduation. Third year students are given training for campus interviews and they'll be given campus placement interviews during their final years. TCS, Futurense are among the names of companies who come to the college for placement along with a lot of Japanese Gaming Companies. The average package offered is around 2-3 lakhs per annum and it has gone as high as 20lakhs per annum. My plan is to try to get placed for a good package after graduation. But the possibility of going for higher studies is not closed.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees i pay yearly is Rs.3,75,000 and it includes all the lab and activity fees. But i am paying exam fees separately which is Rs.1,500 every term and there are 5 terms a year. Backlog exam fees are Rs.750 for each failed paper. The tuition fees for each and every single course is getting increased by atleast Rs.25,000 every academic year. Registration fees at the time of my admission was Rs.20,000. There was no separate caution deposit for me. There is an entrance test conducted by the college to determine the eligibility of the applicants, it's called Jain Entrance Test. I am not sure about the cut of off score for it but i did clear the exam and got a 25% reduction for my first year fees. And whether to continue rewarding the 25% off for second, third and fourth year fees is solely based on academic performance and management decisions. There is no reduction in tuition fees for SC/ST students as far as i know but they do have some reduction in registration fees.

Campus Life

3.5

The campus life is average. No actual campus fear except for the Annual Infinity function which they organise. And there is another tech fest named the Mamba Fest which gets canceled almost every year. Sports is given enough importance as we have football, volleyball, cricket, and all sorts of sporting events. And they do pay for the registration fees for competitions.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

They offer three sharing and two sharing options for hostel. For three sharing it is Rs.1,70,000 per year and for two sharing it is Rs.2,00,000 per year. For boys the three sharing hostel is actually outside the main campus. And that is not at all convenient as they have to cross a national highway road to get to college. And the quality of the food they provide is below average. It is pure veg and that too of pure quality and no variety. The registration process is quite simple and you can register it online through their website to climb through the waiting list. The hostel is managed by an external agency named Mojo Campus and the cafeteria is managed by Sodexo.

Admission

I got admission to Vellore Institute of Engineering, New Horizon College of Engineering, and Jain University. I chose Jain University because of the variety they offer in terms of courses. And because of the fact that Jain University has a good Certificate Value.

Faculty

2

The faculty-to-student ratio is actually pretty good and we do have doctorate degree faculties here. The faculty-to-student relationship differs from faculty to faculty. There are some faculties that love teaching and providing guidance but there are absolutely opposite ones too. Dr. Kanithan S is a very good and educated faculty to knows how to teach and guide students. Dr. Syed Anwar is also a very good faculty who prefers to keep a friendly relationship with students. Mr. Santhosh is a faculty who doesn't have a very nice impression on me. Not just me but for many. He is in no mood to help students out at any time.

Jain University seems to have better certificate value

Placement Experience:

The placement cell is very active in our college. Every year more than 30+ companies come to our college for recruitment . Our seniors from 7th semester get placed in many companies and before getting placed in the company our college offers internships to every student. Around 80 % of the students get placed in companies and work efficiently. The average package for civil engineering is 2.5 lakh per annum.

Placement Experience:

RIT's placement scenario is very good, even for the most unpopular branches such as Civil Engineering. Starting from the 7th semester, students are allowed to participate in campus recruitment, and companies come to the campus for the entire final year. The major recruiting companies are L&T Construction, Shapoorji Pallonji, Brigade Group, Sobha Developers, Atkins, PWD, and Infosys for the non-core sector. Civil students on an average get ?5–6 LPA as salary, and the highest offer is usually in the range of ?12–15 LPA, depending on the company and the position. Almost 70–80% of Civil students are placed, while some of them go for higher studies or government examination.Site engineer, design engineer, planning engineer, survey engineer, and trainee engineer are the core positions that are offered. Also, non-traditional roles in IT and consulting can be taken up by those who are not interested in core engineering profiles.I will first acquire some work experience in the industry after completing my degree and then will pursue a master's degree in structural engineering to gain further specialization.

Students become elegible for placements from 7th sem onwards but we are encouraged to do internship before final itself. Most of the companies that come here aren't t1 or even t2. Highest probably would be 12L only if the student is exceptional but most would secure a package 4-6. And the percentage of students getting placed is <50%
