Course Curriculum Overview

4

We have a specied internship break periods which I think is very useful to get a first hand experience. The syllabus should be restructed. The subject combination for semester should be given a second thought.

Internships Opportunities

5

Colleges does provide internships under a judge or a firm. Basicalkythe work we get is drafting or research work. College generally doesnot provide for a paid internship. The internship remainsan unpaid one.

Placement Experience

2.5

Not so developedfor our department as it us a newly estanloshed college. For our department companies like Fox and Mondal, Genenodia do come. Percentage of students getting placed is very low. Every one here has a connection and sources so they manage.

Fees and Financial Aid

From the first year till the third year of our five years B.A LL.B(H) course, the fees of per semester is Rs 60,000 (Rupees Sixty Thousand only). So for three years, every year the total amount as college fees that needs to be psid is one lakh twenty thousand Rupees. From the fourth year onwards the semester fees is Rs 72,000 (Rupees Seventy two thousand only). The last semester the fees is Rs 77,000 (Rupees seventy seven thousand). There are various scholarships available like the Loyola, Nihil Ultra scholarship. Also fees consession is available. The basic reqirements: 1. 75 percent attendance 2. No arrear papers 3. Marks, which varies according to the scholarship

Campus Life

4.5

Every fest or programmes I donot have any complains. Technolohy within classroom is there. There are sports facilities, various clubs, groups. The campus life is good. The law library especially deserves a special mention because it has all that is required for a person jn legal field to study.

Admission

This college I choose because of faculty, curriculum and its name. I didnot apply to other law colleges and forever wanted to get in here. The student must pass the Xavier Law Aptitude Test to get an admission here.

Faculty

4

The faculties are very approachable. We evrn have three faculties for a particular subject (out of all the subjects applicable for one or two subjects, rest one or two faculties for a subject ). I dont think I will disclose the names of our faculties , but few ofthem are really really sweet. I didnot like a particular faculty because she didnot take classes regularly and she even cannot teach. Rest of all the faculties are very good. There are two exams in a semester - one the Continious Internal Assessmsnt which is similar to a class test and also the end semester exam. The difficulty of the exam is high and people do get arrears.

Placement Experience:

Number of students who have been placed is far less than what it should be ideally. Kolkata is a paradise for law practice as it is the largest city of India and lawyers have always been in demand here. Still only 30% of the students are placed here and that's a big issue considering the name of our college.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The main thing that I love about the curriculum is that we need to study in depth. Our syllabus contains most basic to really professional level stuff which really help us prepare for real life experiences and further academic pursuits. The only change i would like is more practical experiences that would be helpful.

I was fond of international reletaions in my +2 days, thats why I choose Political Science as my honours subject over History. Hence. later I found very boring and monotonous in the first year of its syllabus. After having 3 years of immense syllabus, I have finally fall in love with subject in the final as my beloved IR(International Relations) subjects finally came into my life. There was yearly only one exam contains 2 parts accumating questions.

NUJS boasts near 100% placements, there is a dedicated Campus Recruitment Committee which has elected student members as well as a Faculty Co-ordinator. Some students get PPOs and therefore they do not sit for Day Zero. Tier 1 and Tier 2 law firms as well as Mncs hire with packages ranging around 14-20 lpa.
