Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course curriculum pretty much covers everything. But the problem is that the university doesn't give enough time for the faculties to cover the curriculum. So frequency of exam is twice a year with six months gap. The difficulty of the examinations varies everytime according to the committee who sets the question papers. But the extreme level tough exams are very rare. The college faculties do their best to cover the portions and help us with the portions which needs more help and also gives us further guidence if possible. But the curriculum doesn't prepare you much for the real world application and it has to be improved.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

The internships are mainly department related. We went to an internship at Sark cables private limited, kanjikode, Palakkad. It was an internship through we learnt about the manufacturing of the cables that are used for electrical applications. The internships was very good experience. Similar course related internships are offered by each department. As our department project we have made an electrical car. The department and aluminis was very supportive for the venture. It was a great experience for our batch.

Placement Experience

4

The campus placements starts from the sixth semester. Normally the most of the companies will IT companies. But this year was a little different. Because many core companies came to the college for recruitment. The highest salary package was 7-9Lpa which was an IT company. Many of the students got placed. The placement was about 60%. I am currently recruited as a graduate engineer trainee under the company Harita techserv and doing the training for the job. I got placed in the company through campus recruitment.

Fees and Financial Aid

The students who are admitted under the management have to pay 90000/- per year. There are many students whose fees are aided by the college such that they have to pay 40000/- yearly . The merit students have the fee concession according to their ranking in the entrance exams. There are scholarships such as merit cum means scholarship for economically backward, e-grantz for students under reservation or merit quota which gives the eligible students a certain amount per year.

Campus Life

3

The main highlight of my college experience was the tech fest tharang that is held yearly which is in October. The college has a general library as well as the department libraries for each department. Every class rooms have projectors and other facilities are also good. Sports and extracurricular activities are held in college. There are also many cubs such as dance clubs, NCC there are also associations like IEEE.

Admission

I only applied to this college as it was a very prestigious college in my district and it was a college that gave the freedom you need. I didn't applied to any other colleges. I was admitted to the college based on my plus two marks and I came to know about the admission from a relative. I knew many seniors who are graduated from here and they also gave good reviews about the college. So overall Jyothi engineering college was a college that met my conditions for my future college.

Faculty

4

I felt that faculty to student relationship is very good and much friendly especially the faculties from our EEE department are very warm. They made me feel that we all are a family. There is no teacher that I didn't like. The exams conducted by the college was of average to above average difficulty. The university exams are conducted by the KTU University and the difficulty varied. Normally more than half of students will clear the examinations. The curriculum is decided by the university and is can be improvised as the time to cover the portions is not adequate.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements are decent. getting placed in a big company is more about having the technical and soft skills to pass the interviews. the placement training helps us develop soft skills but the technical skills must be developed ourselves.
