Course Curriculum Overview
MSc in biotechnology and bioinformatics is quite a difficult subject and the syllabus is very huge to complete in few months . Also this subject includes a lot of practical work which are so time consuming. Practicals are more interesting than theory paper. The curriculum prepares us moderately for real world applications. The syllabus should be divided properly among the semesters so that no burden is on a student. The teachers should teach the subject with more practical than theory based. Some semesters donot almost lasts for 6 months . They are less than 6 months and then exam approaches which is very difficult for students to cope up with.

There are many events which take place in our university. College week , excursions from each department . There many cultural clubs that organise their day in a specific month and celebrate with other clubs of the college. The library is very big and very knowledgeable. There is a vast variety of books and journals in the Library one can look for. Classrooms are well equipped and all technologies are included. The campus provides various accessibility to sports and other activities for students such as basketball, badminton, gym etc. There are social clubs for helping students and poor people, there are dance clubs , drama clubs for students to show their inner talent.
Admission
I applied to Gauhati University and Dibrugarh University in Assam and also St. Xavier's College in kolkata. They conduct entrance examination and there was a huge reservation for others categories and imya general category student so I couldn't get a chance there . And thus I chose NEHU because I completed my graduation from St. Anthony's college which is under NEHU only . So I had a preference over other students. For other courses in NEHU they require CUET score and for biotechnology they require GATE-B score. For Msc programme eligibility is 50% in graduation and also cuet score .
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is quite decent . For Biotechnology there are 15 faculty members and no. Of students is approximate 30 . The faculty members are very friendly and approachable. My department faculty i.e. biotechnology is the best for me as they give interest to our individual problems. The faculties which are of humanities department are quite strict and doesn't help students much which there personal problems. There are two exams held in a year . The level of examination is moderate. The course curriculum is relevant
