Course Curriculum Overview
The course covers everything that is supposed to be taught in my course. I have compared it to the curriculum of IITs and it is pretty much the same. The exams can be a bit difficult but at the end, every thing that is asked is either taught in the class or is given in the ppts shared by the respective faculty.
Internships Opportunities
Microsoft was the first company which came for the role of Software Engineer Intern and a stipend of 125000 INR per month. Goldman Sachs came for Data Analyst role with a stipend of 100000 INR per month. Uber came for Software Engineering Inter with a stipend of 177000 per month. DE Shaw for global analytics with a stipend of 150000 per month.
Placement Experience
From 5th semester the students can start applying for summer internships as the companies come to the college. There is a criteria for every company based on branch and cgpa. Firstly the company conducts an online test round where the student has to solve a number of problems in the given time. Then there is interviewing round and HR round. Companies like Microsoft, GoldmanSachs, De-shaw, Uber have visited for campus placements yet, more are yet to come as the placement season has just started. As of last year the highest package was 51.03 LPA and average CTC was 10.49 LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
In first year, the fees paid was 3,25,000 INR and after that the fees depends on the course that you have opted for. For example, CS related branches have a fees of 5,09,000 INR and around 3,25,000 INR for electrical related branches. Hostel fees also depends on the type of room that has been allotted. I have a single non ac room with attached washroom and I pay 1,50,000 INR for the room and 53,000 INR for mess facility. The course fees is increasing yearly. There is no such thing as development fees or lab fees etc, The course fees paid at the start of the academic year includes everything.
Campus Life
the technical fest, TechTatva is held during October and the college is very happening during that time with beautiful lighting and food stalls. The conclave event brings the top speakers for the fest to give insights on the technologies that are in trend at that time to help students get started and prepared for the real world. The cultural fest, Revels is also very enjoyable.
Hostel Facilities
I live in a single no ac room and it doesn't feel so hot. The caretakers are very friendly and no one disturbs you at all. Obviously I can always go to my friends' room to play games. There is an in-time for the hostels and campus which is 11:30pm and 10:30pm respectively. The meal is very good in taste and is served hot.
Admission
Manipal Entrance Test was the exam I had to take for admission into this college. The process is pretty simple. To sit in the counselling I had to pay an amount of 10000 INR. If I got a seat, I had to pay half the fees amount to secure the seat which was refundable until almost the end of first semester in case any student wished to switch colleges. There is always a cutoff for the branches
Faculty
The teachers always tell their cabin number before starting teaching for the course. They also give recommendations for book which we can always borrow from the library. The teachers are well experienced but they mostly teach through ppts which might get a little too boring. We can always go up to them and clear our doubts or even take suggestions for projects/research papers. Very friendly nature of our faculty.
