Course Curriculum Overview
So the Curriculum includes the core subjects of computer science like DSA, operating systems, DBMS, Computer Networks, etc. While most of the subjects are relevant but some of them just feel outdated like microprocessor. If you want better placement you will have to learn side-by-side along with handling your academics. More coding subjects which can increase technical knowledge should be added. There are 2 mid terms and 1 end sem in a semester. It is quite easy to pass these exams as you only require 40% of the total marks. Most of the faculty also provide question bank for reference
Placement Experience
From the 7th semester one can sit for the placements. Companies like TCS, Accenture, Infosys and many more are the mass recruiters for this college. Around 60% of the students are placed and have job profiles like Software Engineer, Data Analyst, etc. The highest package was around 17.5 LPA in 2023 and the average package is around 6 LPA. My plan after the degree is to pursue a master's degree from US/UK .
Fees and Financial Aid
The total fees I have to pay is around 170000. It increases every year by 2000-3000. Although there is no kind of scholarship provided by the college but there is a EBC quota in which you have to apply in the first year itself to wave off 50% of your tution fees. If there are any financial issues you can also pay the fees in installments.
Campus Life
Annual Cultural Fest is Surge which is in the month of December and the Technical Fest is Renaissance in the month of October. Books are available in the library throughout the semesters and you also can take books which are not related to the academics. There is no AC in the classroom but there is AC in the labs. Somaiya WIFI is available throughout the campus. If you are into sports you can get many opportunities to participate in our Sports Fest - Score which includes Football, cricket, volleyball, badminton, chess and many more. There are a lot of clubs and committees in our college like CSI, IET, IEEE , GDSC, etc. Social clubs like NSS are also there in which you have to serve the society and doing so can help you earn a certificate that helps you if you are going for master's after the degree.
Admission
So to take admission in this college you have to give the MHT-CET exam which is conducted every year after the 12th board exam. The syllabus for this exam is same as for the 12th boards and the difficulty level is easy to moderate. There is no exam conducted by the college seperately. You can also take admission through JEE MAIN score. Generally the cutoff through CET is above 93 percentile for CSE branch . But the college has a Gujarati quota, for them it is around 88 percentile. Most of the students are from gujarati minority.
Faculty
So the faculty is well-qualified and friendly. Some of the professors are very passionate about their subject. One can approach any faculty member anytime you want they will help you. Most of the faculty are understanding and have experience which can be valuable.
