IITR At a Glance

My course is Geological Technology from Earth Science Department. This course is all about Study of process inside the earth's crust. This is very intersting and fascinated me to choose this. The course teaches about minerals, ores, fossils, petroleum, rocks and process that occurs inside earth. The inside part of Earth is not explored much. There are many mysteries inside earth. So, this course has good scope in future. The course is good and teaching methods are also good. Because there is practicals for every course which gives better understanding. Exams are conducted two times in a semester, Mid term and End term. And there is relative grading so difficulty doesn't matter.

All famous companies visit campus in intern season like Google, Microsoft, Rubrics, Oracle, ONGC etc. And offers good amount of stipend. There are many intership opportunities to grab. You can work under club projects and get them verified with PIC(Placement and Intership Cell).

All good companies visit the campus for placement and placements are good in even reccesion time. In placement season 2023 900+ offers are made. Placements start in your final year. Avg package varies branch to branch but you can it around 20-25lpa. Highest package are in crores. Almost 85-90% students are placed during placement season.

Tution is comparatively high as it is 1lac per semester while hostel and others fees is combined 30-40 thousands. But are Tution Fee scholarships available. If annual family income is less than 1 lac then you tution fee is 0 ans if annual income is 1-5lac then tution fee is 1/3(3333.33 Rs). For SC St students there is no tution fee. And also there are some scholarships which gives you some money for expenses like MCM scholarship at IITR which gives 10-12K per annum.

Thomso is a cultural fest held at IIT Roorkee which is quite popular as it is north India's largest tech fest held in October every year. Cognizance is a tech fest held in March every year . It is also very popular. Students from all over India come to attend. There is wide variety of Books and journals available in Library. Classroom are well structured with all technological equipments. All type of sports are available in campus with coaches. Many clubs are available to pursue your passion durind clg.

You have to Clear Jee Advanced with a rank for open category 8-10k to get Earth Sciences at IIT ROORKEE. It is conducted once in a year and you are given only two attempts, one during your 12th and one after 12th.

Faculty to students ratio is quite good. Like its about 40-50. So classes are very interactive. Some Faculties don't teach good, but are many good faculties also like there way of teaching is brilliant. I regularly interacts with profs and they can clear my doubts by many different approaches.
